Ranked #1 Hotel in Bradenton Beach
“Love this place!”
June 6, 2013 - Estero, Florida
Everything about this resort is top-notch. We just spent 5 days there in May and will be returning in July for another 5 days - our fifth time there. Every unit is beautiful and clean. Everything is provided for a day at the beach and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We live in a comparable area near Naples but still choose to visit Anna Maria Island for vacations. It is a special place for us and we always look forward to returning. Highly recommend.
“Great Place”
June 3, 2013
We spent five nights at the Toruga Beach the end of April and enjoyed it very much. Our room was very clean and fresh, the pool was great and so was the private beach with beach chairs and umberalls. Even though we were there during "Pirates' Weekend" plus a wedding, it was still quite. The bus system on the island is very convenient and free. The small attached "cafe" was great to get sodas and adult beverages, plus they have a small beverage area pool side. We will definately be going back.
“Great first visit”
May 26, 2013 - Yeovil, United Kingdom
Really clean rooms, all the facilities you need, friendly staff and fantastic location. Only stayed 2 nights but wished we could have stayed a week. Anna Maria island is lovely, traditional Florida and a great contrast to the madness of Orlando. Swam in the sea, picked shells on the beach, hired bikes and explored and ate great local food. Bit of a trek from the UK but very much hope we will be back one day.

“My Absolute Favorite Place to Stay”
May 10, 2013 - Nw Jersey
Rooms are clean (although a few paint touchups are needed here and there) and the screen porch in the Gardens building are wonderful! The one bedroom deluxe units in the Gardens buildings are fantastic...I recommend them highly.
Quick and easy walk to the beautiful beach, ample chairs and umbrellas.
We can't wait to return!
“Return to Tortuga inn”
May 24, 2013 - Venice, Florida
It has been five years since last visiting Tortuga Inn. I think we have tried almost every part of compound. This time we tried the Gardens. We brought our five pound yorkie and his good buddy Oliver a kitten. We love the way the animals are treated. We always crate them when we leave for a swim. The partial view delux one bedroom apt was beautiful and bay view was breathtaking. This was the best part. Yet the bed was the most horrible, lousy, uncomfortable, cheap and sub standard for the price we paid. The pillows were flat cheap ones. La Quinta has pillow top beds and great pillows for a lot less than this overpriced room. They have also become cheap when it comes to soap, towels, and kitchen detergents. There was a time when new towels were delivered to your apt with new kitchen soaps, bathroom ect. We had to ask for more kitchen detergents for we did all our cooking no eating out. For the price one pays housekeeping should not be an extra charge no matter what beach properties are asking. I still love the views, the beach, and the idea that your pets may come to the beach with you. I will never stay there again until I read that the beds all of them have changed. My daughter told me she had the same experience in one of the lesser North villa apt. I know David Tuttlebaum is very active and will update these issues. Until then I will wait.
“Great Spot for our Wedding Party”
May 22, 2013 - Orlando, Florida
We got married on Anna Maria Island (The Sandbar, also highly recommended!) and had beach houses rented for our wedding party and family, but we had all of our guests (~40-50ppl) stay at the Tortuga Inn, and we got great reviews from all of our guests who stayed on property. We also stayed here the night of our wedding in one of the suites that looks over the back bar - great spot and nice comfortable rooms.
The beach right across the street is fabulous! The only thing we would recommend to stay away from is the little Cafe just south of the Tortuga Inn (Gulf Drive Cafe??). It is in walking distance and looks like a great little beach bar, but we tried the place numerous times and the food and service were HORRIBLE.
But dont hold that against the Tortuga Inn. Very nice staff that was accommodating to all our needs and those of our guests.
“Tortuga has yet again lived up to our expectations and beyond”
May 18, 2013 - Littlehampton, United Kingdom
We returned to the Tortuga for the 5th or 6th time, I admit I was a little concerned with some of the negative comments made on this site and the changes that had been made. However, our welcome in reception was excellent, our room was fantastic (not sure why people say the rooms are dark, they are shaded - keeps them cool, you can always put a light on) overall our stay was perfect.
The new café is handy and the shop by the side of the reception keeps most things you may need. The whole place was kept clean and tidy with a pride seldom seen in hotels.
All things being equal we hope to be back in 18 to 24 months - it's a long way from the UK but well worth the mileage.
“Perfect in Every Way”
May 15, 2013 - Toronto, Canada
We stayed at the Tortuga for 3 nights while attending a wedding and were very impressed from the start. Front desk staff were friendly and while they could not accommodate an early check-in, the room was well worth the wait. It was beyond our expectations! The room was absolutely beautiful! We wished we could have stayed longer. Beach was directly across the street with easy access. We will definitely go back and will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone heading down to Florida.
“Absolutely beautiful”
May 13, 2013 - Mobile
We needed a room foe just one night on Mother's Day weekend....luckily we found the Tortuga abd they had an amazing 2br/2bath. Granite, crown molding dual head showers in both baths....if we would have known what a great place it was we would have definitely planned a longer stay. Our room shared a private pool with a few other rooms. We are just an hour and a half away but we will definitely return for a weekend of r&r.
“Quaint and Lovely, Tortuga Inn”
May 11, 2013 - Lockport, New York
Late planning and a bit of luck turned into one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed!
Visited Anna Maria Island over Easter weekend and it was absolutely the best! Tortuga Inn is nicely situated approximately center of the Island and was bright, clean, spacious and an extremely pleasant experience. The beach is gorgeous and right at your fingertips. Enjoyed exploring all of the Island and would not hesitate to stay at any of the Anna Maria Island Resorts, they have a great facebook page which keeps you up to date and wanting to return again and again!
“Perfect”
May 10, 2013 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
This place is the real deal. If you do your homework, Anna Maria Island is a quiet, laid back, non-party location that is ideal for a quiet getaway where you just want to relax, eat good food and enjoy an amazing beach. And this hotel makes that experience perfect! The front desk staff are the nicest, fun folk. The Gulf Room suite we were in had amazing sunset views and was a spacious, clean, quiet, well appointed home away from home. The fantastic beach is also quiet, just a short stroll away and if you're bored of the beach, the pools are also incredibly relaxing. The creperie downstairs serves good breakfast and the hotel is at a great location for walking a little south to pretty good restaurants. Even better, the free trolley stops right outside the hotel if you want to head to the north of the island to experience the good food up there too! Small(ish), privately run hotels like this are hard to find these days but this is a real find and like most things, it's not just the location, etc., it's the people that work there that also make it. Recommended! We'll be back...
“Lovely beach escape!”
May 9, 2013 - Chicago, Illinois
First of all, I love the website, which was why I chose this hotel in the first place. The Inn has excellent pictures of the rooms, and of the resort-and the pictures do not exaggerate! The rooms, pool and beach are lovely and spacious. Also, the staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. We felt very much at home, and will be returning next year!
“Our Second Trip Just As Perfect”
May 9, 2013 - Dayton, Ohio
We visited our favorite Florida beach again this year for another family vacation. We absolutely love Anna Maria Island but just hate that the word is getting out! This year we went during Easter week which I had heard would be 100X busier and more costly than October, well it was BUT not THAT bad! Stayed a week and stayed at our fav spot Tortuga Gardens. This time they didn't have the 2/2 Deluxe unit overlooking the bay available. It had already been reserved but the reservationist suggested the 2/2 Deluxe without the view. It was like $500 less, had all the space, covered lanai and was just as wonderful but no Bay view. We could LIVE with that! Our vacations exist of my husband, 2 children under 7 and my Momma. We have plenty of room in the 2 bdrm Deluxe and my mom enjoys her little piece of paradise in the "lock-out efficiency" portion of the condo. Our kids are small and young enough that the pull out works great (that's if they aren't snuggling with grandma)!!!! The lanai is so awesome! It really is like an additional living space. One morning while it rained my mom and husband and I all sat out there and enjoyed the storm. It is a GREAT space! In regards to the newly added cafe.....LOVE! Perfect for breakfast and grabbing drinks. I think we walked down there 3 or 4 mornings to grab breakfast for everyone. Totally convenient. If you are trying to figure out where to stay you need to seriously consider Tortuga. The trolley stops right outside, the beach is (for real) a 2 or 3 minute walk through the complex and across the street. We love this location for walkable restaurants and easy drives around the island. We do rent a car but are able to walk to a lot of places or jump on the trolley. Ohhhh and the staff is so friendly! So what are my suggestions for making Tortuga better? Add some light music to pool area, and I need a better mattress in the master bedroom. It doesn't suck all the way but I have a great bed at home and did miss it! But for the view, location and atmosphere, I will surely cope! Haha! Going back for sure!
“Perfect location”
May 8, 2013 - Boston, United Kingdom
As Anna Marie Island fans this was a no brainer. We stayed in July last year and are going back again in Sept this year. Clean, friendly, perfect location. The rooms are delightful and have all you need for a relaxed few days. Get up early, wander over onto the private beach and you can be the only person in the world as the sun rises and the wildlife begins to stir, idyllic.
“Amazing resort”
May 6, 2013 - Commack, New York
We discovered this beautiful resort last summer. The Tortuga staff is so friendly and helpful. They always have a smile on their face and make you feel welcome the minute you walk in. The resort is located on a beautiful beach and it also has nice pool area. The room are tastefully done and very clean. You can walk to lots of amazing restaurants and if walking is not your thing, you don't even need to drive your car because a trolley will take you from one end of the Island to the other for free. We will certainly go back to this beautiful resort.
“Best beach location"”
May 1, 2013 - Traverse City, Michigan
Great location for a white sand beach (across the street) had chair and umbrella rental. Fantastic snsets. King room was very clean with all amenities, updated (a little dark), felt like New orleans. Great pool area. Two pools, one was upper deck and maybe only for lap swimmers (lttle sun and few chairs), the other pool was great, clean, warm and tropical. Will definately go back.
“Anna Maria Island Gem - Tortuga Beach Resort, Bradenton Beach"”
May 1, 2013 - Tallahassee, Florida
We have been staying at the Tortuga Beach Resort, Bradenton Beach, for about 5-6 years, for an annual family visit, including Moms and pets - the accommodations have been absolutely first class and staff VERY friendly and reservations always a breeze. Beaches are pristine, dining and local shopping are outstanding, and is very close to Sarasota for arts, entertainment and more fine dining! We would recommend staying here to anyone who has a family and wants updated condo-style accommodations with all the amenities. Walking and biking paths, rentals, hobie cats, free trolleys, and lots of beach activities are all there.
“Really nice rooms and management fair.”
- April 20, 2013 - Tinley Park, Illinois
We had a room on the bay side, very clean and nice. Had a problem with our arrival after hours even though the office was notified but the management did right by us for our inconvenience. Would definitely stay there again. The location is great and the room (153 Bayside south) was beautiful and very private with a nice view of the bay. Gulf beach is a short walk across the street.
“Loved it ! Great location, nice & clean”
- April 19, 2013
I stayed in the hotel room and a 2 br apartment. Both were very, very clean and accomodating. The property is a few yards from the beautiful beach and is very clean. The staff was awsome and helpful both times i stayed there. The wifi could be iffy at times. Loved the property with the small courtyard. I dont get the bad reviews but, this is not a 6 star luxury property like a Hyatt. It has a great location, very clean, up to date and new furnishings and accomodations and very comfortable all around. I stayed in the front building which had been remodeled. The buildings in the back were new and I would consider them upscale addomodations.. Loved the layout of the 2 br apt and the hotel room was pretty large and roomy. a short walk to the restaraunts and Bridge St. Only 2 miles to Publix. They did anything they could think of to make sure the rooms were propertly stocked for guests from towels to the kitchen areas. I would definately reccommend this place in Bradenton Beach area and would come back again.
“Wonderful place to enjoy the Gulf Coast.”
- April 18, 2013 - Downingtown, Pennsylvania
Staff are friendly and helpful. The one bed room we stayed was not like the boring standard decor, but bright and "beachy decorated, with tile floor, beach, spacious tile shower and small refrigerator in room. Small store near reception desk is well stocked to keep you going. Washer and dryer are free. Short walk across the beach, supplied with towels you pick up at the nice pool heated pool, and plenty of beach lounges are there to enjoy a rest, the sun and the gulf waters. Many good places to eat nearby including "Ralphs" on the pier and Sanatoga. I will be coming back.
“Awesome Stay!”
- April 17, 2013 - Franklin, Tennessee
This is a beautiful place to stay. This was our third stay here - for yet another wedding! The location is convenient, the property is beautiful and relaxing. It is very clean and well appointed with everything you need for a day or a month. The beach across the street is beautiful and picture perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. We love staying here!
“Clean & Convenient”
- April 14, 2013 - Ocala, FL
We stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. My husband has Crohn's disease and has to cook his own food, so we needed a room with a full kitchen. The kitchen was well thought-out and very clean, plus Publix is just down the road. Overall the room was nice, and I felt comfortable enough to walk around barefoot - and I haven't felt that comfortable in many hotels. The hotel buildings are crammed onto the property, but every other hotel on the island looks just as jammed in. Being located on the Northern part of the island means you don't get caught in as many traffic backups, because Cortez Bridge is just down the road. One suggestion to the Tortuga Inn: secure your WiFi! When we checked in, the person at the front desk seemed proud that a password was not needed, but that meant EVERYONE got on the WiFi every night, and we got bumped off several times and sometimes frustratingly were not able to get back on.
“A wonderful stay!”
- April 13, 2013 - Minneapolis, Minnesota
We stayed here spring break 2013 and had a great time! The folks at the desk were always in a good mood (they work at the beach though, so....) It's a very clean, beautiful, and well-kept property in a convenient location. They give the option of no housekeeping to save money. We did this but our youngest got sick the first night and they graciously changed out our bed sheets gratis. They have free laundry for guests so you can clean your own towels as needed (dryers are slow but what are you going to do?). You don't have to bring beach towels because they give you tokens for one set of beach towels each day.
The pool was heated and our daughters loved it. It can get a bit crowded with spring break but never unworkable. They have a bin of toys and a cabana boy standing by with cool drinks and towels. They only ran low on beach chairs once that I can recall because it was too cool and windy to go to the beach.
The resort is across the main road from the beach. This does have fairly constant traffic during spring break but cars stop to let you cross. There's a free bus running the length of the island and there's a bike lane on either side of the road. The beach is clean and the Inn provides plenty of lounge chairs (the poor staff has to drag them back near the road and stack them each night). The sand varies from soft flour to broken shells but its a lovely wide beach with a lot of shallow water and mild waves just big enough to give kids their first taste of body surfing. There is an outfit offering water toy rentals right there. Shelling isn't great but what was on offer got our 9 year old excited.
The island is small so the inn is convenient to most everything you could need. There's little need to leave the island and you're better off staying on it because during spring break the backups to cross the causeway are loooong.
The staff worked very hard to keep guests happy. We didn't have housekeeping but they were busy as bees everywhere else keeping things looking great. For some reason the TV (full cable) got stuck in the on position so they brought in a brand new TV the next day.
We did have a couple of minor complaints. For the first 3-4 days the wifi had a horribly weak signal, dropping constantly and basically unusable. Then i think someone realized a router/repeater was offline and it improved considerably. So if you have a bad signal check at the desk and see if it can be improved. The other issue is it got a bit hot at night for sleeping. We didn't get enough breeze and couldn't work out the cooling system, but it wasn't bad enough for us to try super hard, either!
All in all a great place, a great stay, and a lot of people working hard to ensure you have a happy and carefree time on vacation!
“A real nice place to stay, for a certian kind of vacation”
- April 11, 2013 - Orlando, Florida
I want to start by saying the deluxe apartments in the Tortuga inn are awesome. Now that that is said, i would not really count it as a normal hotel/motel. Think of it more like you are renting an apartment at a really nice location. The service is not designed to be a hands on effort. The pools are...not the best.
I love the concept, because I enjoy a restful undisturbed vacation and that is what i get every time i go. Its pretty close to everything and the beach is amazing. Not a resort but a very nice place.
“Beautiful apartment with a great location”
- April 9, 2013
We had a great stay at Tortuga Inn and were very comfortable there. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. With two pools to choose from they were never crowded and were well maintained. Beautiful private beach right across the street and a French bistro. What more could you ask for? The quiet rules after 10 pm on Anna Maria made for a restful stay. Thank you David and Tim and all the staff!
“Perfect family getaway”
- April 8, 2013 - Hermosa Beach, CA
We loved everything about our stay at Tortuga Beach. It's not a fancy resort, but it's very clean, well-kept, friendly, and offers an ideal location just steps from the beach and walking distance from local eateries and activities. It's perfect for families. We were in the Palm Court 2 bed/1 bath rooms - stayed in both a top and bottom floor room during our stay and liked them both. The upstairs room had an ocean view and wonderful breeze. The staff at Tortuga was accommodating and friendly, and they really provide everything you need to be self-sufficient in your own little apartment - even free laundry and internet. We would definitely stay here again!
“"Great Stay!”
- April 2, 2013 - Universal City, Texas
I was on vacation with my sister, brother-in-law and 11 yo nephew. We were in a 2 Br/1bath room location 227. We had a great view of the pool and the a bit of the ocean. The staff was great and helpful with finding out about places to eat. We were there the from March 20-26, the weekend was when a big crowd came in and because the temperature were cold on the beach people were pulling in lounge chairs from the beach across the street to the poolside since the pool was nicely heated. I found the area to be a quiet place until the crowds came in. Anyway, the property was well kept, I thought the rooms were well insulated and I am a light sleeper. The kitchen had all you needed to cook and there was a free laundry with 3 washers and 3 dryers. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were easy to keep clean since the floors were tiled. I am pretty picky but I have to say I would definitely stay here again.
“Very Nice Resort!!”
- March 20, 2013 - Colonia,NJ
Our first trip to AMI was especially nice spending it at the Tortuga!! The resort is very clean and well kept. Our room (137A) was very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The ladies at the reception desk couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Lisa set us up with several great places to eat and also helped my wife with a birthday surpise for me!! Thanks Lisa!! The beach has beautiful white sand, available beach chairs, umbrellas and a great sunset!!
All in all our 4 day weekend wasn't long enough but our first trip to AMI was a nice break from the cold Northeast. We found the the island and the people to be very friendly. Look forward to going back! Thanks Tortuga!!
“PERFECT!! One Night Not Enough!!”
- March 18, 2013 - Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida
One night in the Garden Apts. We had stayed at a few other properties in town, all OK, but, thought we could do better, jotted down names, checked online when returned home. The Tortuga Beach Resort looked the most promising, made our reservation online. We received a welcome/thank you email, then, a courtesy follow up, making us aware of some beach construction happening during our visit, assuring that it would not impact our stay, which it did not at all. Check-in was a breeze at the fully staffed office, all very friendly.
The room was huge, with beautiful furnishings, very clean, quiet. The king bed was very comfy and firm. Big Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. There was a separate swimming pool in that building, as well as the larger one out in front, both clean and inviting. Wish we had more time there, will DEFINITELY return!!
We love the area, beautiful beaches, great restaurants, cool gift shops.
“Short Trip”
- March 15, 2013 - Florida
We had 3 friends visit us in Stuart,Fl and they wanted to visit the Gulf. I found availability at the resort for a couple of nights in trhe Garden Appartments which was perfect. Everthing was great except for the cool weather. Staff was friendly and location had restaurants within walking distance.
“Awesome Room”
- March 14, 2013 - Fonda, New York
Spent 1 week at this resort. Our room was a studio overlooking the bay. It was so quiet with a patio with a private hot tub where we spent most of our time. Short walk to some businesses with restaurants & shops. The resort supplies beach chairs, towels &umbrellas at no extra charge which was a great surprise.
“Pleasant Surprise!”
- March 12, 2013 - Tampa, Florida
I'm a Florida resident and booked this place last minute to spend some time with my family a little closer to the beach. Our dog travels with us whenever possible, so that helped to narrow our choices down to pet friendly Tortuga Inn. The place turned out to be a very pleasant surprise! Our rooms had a walled-in little private yard/entrance; well equipped kitchen, and overall everything was super clean and comfortable. Nearby is the Cortez Fishing Village with their fresh seafood restaurants. We plan to return in summer because the shade, breeze, and the trickle of the fountains in the courtyard will keep us cool even in the Florida heat.
“Tortuga Beach Resort”
- March 12, 2013 - Fairview Heights, Illinois
We made arrangements for a late arrival and found the lights on and the room waiting for us. We had a Studio overlooking the beach and the new Pergola. The staff was great to work with and fulfilled all of our requests. Housekeeping shaped things up each day and the room was in tiptop shape when we returned. This was my third stay at Tortuga and I have never had a complaint.
“What a Gem!”
- March 12, 2013 - Milton, DE
Recently we had occasion to spend a night at the Tortuga Beach Resort on Bradenton Beach. We chose the hotel because it appeared to be unique. Was it ever! The layout is beautiful with accommodations for most tastes. The staff was warm and friendly-from the minute we checked in we felt like treasured guests. We will most certainly visit again.
“Relaxing Stay at Tortuga Inn”
- March 10, 2013 - Park Ridge
This is our fifth year staying at Tortuga Inn Beach Resort. My husband and I always book a one bedroom deluxe condo which is tastefully decorated with a full kitchen, large living/dining room, laundry room, and a large screened in lanai. We loved the bathroom with the jacuzzi and the spacious walk in double shower. Our bedroom and lanai had a spectacular view of Sarasota Bay. Viewing the sunrise reflecting off the bay was a great way to start our day.
The property is well maintained from the cleaning staff to the grounds personnel. Also, the people behind the front desk are friendly, well informed, and very helpful to answer any questions. They make you feel at home.
It is nice that Tortuga Inn keeps making improvements. They recently opened the Le Petit Cafe for take out which is really convenient for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My husband and I tried their delicious crepes. Also, this year they were constructing a pergola to get to the private white sand beach.
The location of Tortuga Inn is perfect. You can walk across the street to the Gulf of Mexico. The resort has chairs and umbrellas for your use. The beach is great for long walks and watching the breathtaking sunsets. Also, there are so many restaurants walking distance from the resort. With restaurants close by and a free trolley which stops in front of Tortuga Inn, you don't have to depend on a car.
The resort and area have everything you would want for a relaxing vacation. We have already booked our one bedroom for next year.
“Paradise”
- March 10, 2013
My friends and I take an annual girls trip and this year we will be going to stay here for 3rd year in a row. We can't think of a better beach getaway. Great location, awesome beach, and nice clean rooms. My sister also got married on the beach here last year and we had the best time ever! I highly recommend this hotel! I won't stay anywhere else in Anna Maria .
“No need to travel to the Caribbean! The Tortuga Beach Resort is Florida's tropical paradise!”
- March 9, 2013 - Maine
We have been vacationing at the Tortuga since our friends first introduced it to us on their destination wedding. We will be returning this April for our sixth time. Our seventeen year old son has told us multiple times that this is his favorite vacation! Our seven year old daughter has been counting down the weeks until we return to "our Florida home" since Christmas. The people at the Tortuga go out of their way to make you feel at home. No request is too much to ask. The location is ideal for couples and for families. The grounds are well maintained and beautifully groomed. The Tortuga is close to restaurants, shopping, and of course the beach. The Public Trolley stops directly in front of the resort and brings you from one end of the island to the other. The multiple pools are a perfect place to cool off. We have stayed in the Garden Rooms which are spacious and impeccably decorated. The Bay Rooms continue to be our first choice. The privacy and luxury of a private pool can't be beat. I highly recommend a trip to Anna Maria Island and a stay at the Tortuga Brach Resort!
“My Favorite Place”
- March 8, 2013 - Massillon, Ohio
This was our fourth year. Each year the property had made new additions to upgrade the resort. The grounds people are always cleaning and pruning the resort. This was our first year in the garden deluxe apartment and the view of the bay was wonderful. The apartment is just like being in a deluxe hotel. The double shower and jacuzzi were heavenly. We loved this accommodation. The front desk staff were helpful from check in to check out. Love the new gift shop and cafe. They both have beer and wine. Can't wait to see the new pergola on the beach. I'm counting the days until February 2014.
“Great Beach getaway”
- March 3, 2013 - Johnstown,PA
We have stayed at the Tortuga Beach Resort in February for 3 yrs. now and look forward to our next visit. The inn is clean & well maintained by a friendly, professional staff. The rooms are lovely and pools warm enough to enjoy without shivering. The in house cafe makes great crepes and meals to go. Located right across a small road from the gulf it is also within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The beach itself is marvelous for swimming and shell collecting. Sunsets are spectacular! In keeping with its high quality service the inn provides towels, umbrellas and lounges for guest use. Anna Maria Island has an "old Florida" feel-not a high rise in sight! There is also a town ordinance that prohibits loud parties, etc. after 10PM-it's wonderfully quiet! It's a wonderful place to relax& recharge and also close to Sarasota if more sightseeing/cultural venues are on your list. All in all Tortuga Beach Resort is great!
“LOVED THIS PLACE”
- March 2, 2013 - Reston, Virginia
The Tortuga Inn was the perfect place for us to have a getaway from the Northern winter. We were able to watch the sunrise on the pier on the inter-coastal bay, and the sunset on the gulf beach! The room we had was well equipped with a kitchenette, nice flat screen, and even a bidet!
It was quiet, cozy, and comfortable. We had everything we neede provided for us, dishwashing detergent, dish soap, paper towel, ect. Although we had our own car, there is a trolley stop right in front. We can't wait to start planning our return!
“A wonderful retreat”
- Feb. 28, 2013 - Sarasota, Florida
From the people at the front desk to the clean, comfortable rooms, this is a great way to get away from it all. With the Bay on one side and the beach on the other, great restaurants and friendly local people, this was a great vacation. We live only an hour away but we will definitely go back to renew and refresh often.
“Tortuga Beach Resort”

We stayed at the Tortuga Beach Resort on anna Maria Island for 5 days in January. We had a fantastic time. the location of the hotel was so convenient to beach, restaurants, shopping, etc. Our room was lovely and clean and all the staff we encountered during our stay were pleasant and helpful. The sunsets were incredible...we would definitely return and we would definitely plan on staying longer.

“Great Getaway”
- Feb. 26, 2013 - New Jersey
My husband and I stayed at the Tortuga Inn for a week in Feb 2013. This was our second trip; the first was 4 years ago. On our first trip we had a room in the 'courtyard' which was so dark that we had to leave all the lights on all day. This trip we opted to stay in a gulf-facing room up front which is over the parking lot but does allow you to see across the street to the ocean. If you stay up front you have to be okay with traffic noise day and night, and guests coming and going.
The room was very clean and well cared for. We did have to pay extra to have housekeeping come in each day to tidy up the room and leave fresh towels. You can opt not to have them come in if you're not opposed to doing laundry on your vacation, since that's the only way you can get fresh towels without the additional fee. Since our last visit they have opened a cafe downstairs where you can get breakfast/lunch/dinner to take out. We had breakfast there one day and weren't bowled over by it but it is convenient. Fortunately the unit we were in had a kitchenette so we were able to bring food/coffee in for the week. The room is comfortable but not lavish. This is a basic place to sleep/eat/shower. I haven't been to any other hotels/inns on the island so I don't have a point of comparison but Tortuga does appear, at least from the outside, to be one of the better ones. The week we were there they were building a new pergola on their private beach so it was very noisy with lots of sawing and hammering, but it's hard to fault them for upgrading. The staff is congenial and very helpful.
Anna Maria Island is a lovely, laid-back place where many people walk and ride bikes to get around. There's also a free trolley that runs up and down the main street so you can hop on and off to get to restaurants/attractions/stores. I love the feel of the island. It's slow, relaxed, and there are many good restaurants to choose from, most of which you can walk to from Tortuga. We will definitely go back to AMI but if we end up at Tortuga next time we'll probably see about getting a room in the back, facing the inter-coastal waterway. I imagine it's much more quiet on that side.
“Tortuga Beach Resort”
- Feb. 26, 2013 - Glen Ridge, NJ
My husband and I stayed at Tortuga Beach Resort on Anna Maria Island, FL in February (2013) and had a wonderful time. The room was cozy and had a luxurious bathroom (very modern and very roomy); the hotel was super clean; the piool area very lovely and the best is your are right across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again.
“This is truly a "Bit of Paradise”
- Feb. 25, 2013 - Alexandria, Minnesota
February 2013 brought us to the Tortuga Inn for a short 5 days. Our first impression was absolutely amazing! From the check in staff, to the room, to the maintenance staff to the overall property appearance was impressive every day we were there! We had a 2 bdrm condo in the North Palm building which was immaculate. The pool was so warm that my 80 year old parents loved going swimming (even in February!) The short walk to the beach was great exercise for my parents and they could go over there on their own. Traffic always stopped for them to cross. Sunsets were simply amazing! The trolley stop was right by Tortuga Inn. Staff was always available for questions and there was always someone cleaning to make the property spotless. The condo was spacious and so clean. The guests we met were so friendly and even everyone on the island we met seemed very friendly. We will definitely come back and hope to stay longer next time.
“Great place!!!!”
- Feb. 25, 2013 - Road Town, Tortola
Tortuga was a great place! Walk across the street to the beach which was as white sand as it could be. Room(two bedroom) was amazing! Pool in the back was really nice. We had a screened in balcony also which over looked the water and it was very nice.
“My Oasis”
- Feb. 25, 2013 - Largo, Florida
The only reason I hesitate to write this review is because this gem of a beach resort will become so popular that I will no longer be able to get a reservation. The location is great and the facility is awesome. As a good friend of my said, "this is the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in".
Kudos to your staff who have maintained this standard on each of my many visits.
“A little bit of Paradise”
- Feb. 24, 2013 - Waunakee, Wisconsin
Last year we stayed for two nights and realized we had discovered a "Jewel". We returned this year and stayed for a week. This time we stayed in the Tortuga Garden 1 bedroom with a partial view of the Bay. We could watch the sun rise from our screened porch and then walk across the street in the evening to watch the sun set over the Gulf. The rooms are immaculate and I would love to have a kitchen as nice as the one we had there. The staff is so friendly and be sure and ask them for recommendations for good places to eat. You will not be disappointed if you chose to stay at Tortuga Beach. We can't wait to return next year!
“Total Enjoyment”
- Feb. 23, 2013 - Anderson, Indiana
We made this vacation spot selection mainly based on the fact that it was "pet friendly." We didn't want to leave our aging dog, Kira, behind. We were pleasantly surprised first of all by the friendly welcome we received and then by the wonderful accommodations. Our "deluxe garden apartment" was spacious, very clean and well supplied. The maid service was wonderful. We have friends in the area so we are familiar with the attractions and places to go (and there are plenty). The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed the fact that the premises had two swimming pools - one for swim and sun, the other, a little more private and perfect for swimming laps. Kira enjoyed her stay also. The only drawback is there is not much area for walking the dog and pets aren't allowed on the beach.
“Very enjoyable vacation”
- Feb. 22, 2013 - Ohio
We had the opportunity to stay at the Tortuga Inn in January 2013. We rented an gulf front studio apartment. The Inn was very well maintained, and clean. We choose not to use room service but did receive a new supply of towels and toiletries left on our front veranda each day. The staff was very helpful with information about the area. Our view from the front veranda to the gulf was very nice. Walking across the street to the beach allowed us to spend each night enjoying the gorgeous sunset. We would recommend this inn and hope to stay again..
“Great Winter Getaway”
- Feb. 22, 2013 - Cincinnati
We recently stayed at Tortuga Resort and took advantage of the one free night offer. We stayed in the Palm Court South studio on the first floor, with a king bed and nice patio outside. Has all you need for a several day stay. The kitchen and fridge gives the option to eat in. The room was well cleaned daily, and the bathroom and shower were roomy and clean as well. The bed was large, but the mattress was too firm for our liking. The location is across Gulf Drive from the beach, and the available beach umbrellas and chairs are great. We were a short drive to family in Bradenton. The Tortuga reservation staff is great. We plan to return.
“Heavenly!”
- Feb. 22, 2013 - Cleveland, OH
This charming hideaway on delightful Ana Maria Island is a treasure! It evokes the feel of old Florida with its shaded walkways and exceptional accommodations. The staff were most welcoming and informative. I had the pleasure of staying in room 155 and I would never go to another! It is cozy, well appointed and has a lovely kitchen, plus it looks out over the bay. The icing on the cake is the large outdoor jacuzzi next to the water that was at our disposal. It is shared with only one other room and is not available to anyone else. It is such a romantic spot for a few days of heaven!
“One of the best resort ever for quiet time”
- Feb. 22, 2013 - Tampa, Florida
We stayed in a one bedroom on the bay, my husband wanted to fish this weekend (Martin Luther King weekend) the room view was amazing it was like we were on a cruise ship when you looked out the huge padio window. The bathroom was large and with a Spa tube which my husband loved, we were able to cook our breakfast and dinner the Publix is right down the street. We went fishing twice a day and caught nice size Sheep Head I caught more than husband and I'm not a fisherman (lol) it was so much fun people would come up while we were fishig and inquire about the fish. We did our fishing on the hotel Pier. The front desk was amazing and accommodating, our room exceptional clean and comfortable. We will stay at this resort in March I have booked 3 rooms my daughter is getting married on Anna Marie island and the Wedding Party is staying at this Resort. The price was reasonable for beach property. Staff was very friendly and someone was always outside cleaning.
“We will be back!”
- Feb. 19, 2013 - Bloomington, Indiana
We stayed in the hotel type room. This is our second time at the Tortuga Inn and each time the staff at the front desk have been very helpful and friendly. Our room both times has been clean and very comfortable. The free shuttle that you can pick up out front is very easy and convenient. The beach is great for long walks in either direction. We have found the Tortuga Inn to be quite and easy for a relaxing stay. We will be back again next year.
“Great Place”
- Feb. 13, 2013 - Mansfield, Massachusetts
We stayed in a two bedroom/two bath on the Bayside with the semi-private hot tub. Loved the privacy and quiet side of the Bay which could be enjoyed from the patio area. Clean, friendly staff and neighbors. Kitchen adequate. Very convenient to see the area and just walk across the street to the beach! We would return!
“Great Stay at the Tortuga Inn”
- Feb. 10, 2013 - Gibbsboro, NJ
We stayed at the Tortuga Inn Beach Resort in November 2012, for five days with our friends. This was our first time visiting Anna Maria Island. We had a 2 bedroom / 2 bath deluxe apt. with a partial bay view with a screened in porch. The apt. was in the Tortuga Garden Apartment building. The apartment was very tastefully decorated and very clean! It was nice that the cleaning staff came everyday and freshened up the bathrooms and brought clean towels. So even though we stayed in the apt., it was like staying in a hotel! The pool area was kept very nice and inviting. The weather was very cool when we were there, so we only used the pool once. The beach was across the street and they provided beach towels, and lounge chairs. It was a nice beach. Our condo unit had a washer & dryer right off the kitchen. Overall, we had a great time at the Tortuga Inn.
“Choose the Tortuga Gardens”
- Feb. 3, 2013
We stayed in a 2 bdrm deluxe in the Tortuga Garden building. It was a beautiful two bdrm, 2 bath condo that was nicely decorated and very clean. We have previously rented houses for the week while on vacation. This year we decided to spend alittle more & stay here. It was well worth it. It was nice to be able to have hotel ammenities like the two pools or just grab a towel from Tortuga and just walk accross the street to the beach. We were there in mid January and had no problems getting a beach chair. The dining/living room area was big enough for us to invite family that lived an hour away to come and have dinner with us. Our rooms didnt have the updated TV's, but hopefully by next year they will be there - that's the only improvement I would make. Be sure to take a boat ride with Captain Kim on her pontoon boat (if you have six or less people) - my son loved getting off on the sandbar with her and finding shells.
“Wonderful stay”
- Jan. 31, 2013 - Annandale,VA
Stayed for three nights with my wife. Beautiful property with friendly staff. We found the rooms roomy and unique with built-in book cases and beautiful artwork. Most rooms an open air central courtyard with tropical plants, palm trees, and koi ponds. Feels like staying in Hemingway's house. Our room rate was very reasonable. There are more expensive suites that face the bay or gulf. The pool is heated and the pool area is quite nice. They have a private beach just across the road with chairs and umbrellas provided by the hotel. The road is only one lane in each direction, but since it's the only north-south road on that part of the island, it can be difficult to cross because of the stream of traffic. Breakfast is not included but there is a charming french cafe on the premises that serves breakfast and lunch. . Any number of good restaurants on the island for dinner, and the Bridge Street area can even be walked to from the hotel. All in all, a little bit of paradise
“Toot Horn for Tortuga”
- Jan. 23, 2013 - Oak Hill, VA
We stayed here for 5 nights in January in Room T220. Price was extremely resonable.... about $160 a night. The room is very well laid out and a lot of thought went into maximizing the small space. We had a balcony that looked over the Gulf, shared by two other rooms, but no one occupied the rooms so it was very private. The La Petit Cafe was one floor down, so every morning we ate breakfast on the little balcony.
The beach is right across the street and there are jet skiis and sailboats you can rent. There are bikes and scooters you can also rent right next door. Restaurants are within walking distance.
The only negative... and it is a small one.... is that the road is very noisy with lots of trucks. With the windows closed, though, it is quiet.
“New Year's Trip”
- Jan.15, 2013 - Madison, MS
My husband I are both pilots and travel frequently. We enjoy going out west but also like the west coast of Florida. We have been flying to Anna Maria Island for years and really enjoy it. We have always stayed at the Tortuga Beach Resort. We can not say enough great things about this location. Everything is always consistently wonderful! Rooms are impeccably clean, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, perfect location within walking distance to great restaurants and the beautiful beach, and reasonable priced. Over the years we have come to know some of the staff and truly appreciate the effort and attention they have afforded us in insuring our visit to the Island is perfect. Somehow too they always manage to provide plenty of sunshine! Anyone considering the west coast of Florida, do yourself a favor and stay at Tortuga. You will be pleased and wanting to return soon! Very well run organization with an exceptional staff!
“Idyllic getaway on the water”
- Jan.13, 2013 - London
We have stayed here many times now, in a wonderful studio room overlooking the bay. It has a wonderful bathroom and spectacular view of the water. The service was first class and the room very clean, comfortable and quiet. There are restaurants in walking distance, and the beach is just over the road. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
“Perfect for our New Years trip”
- Jan.10, 2013 - South Bend, Indiana
We stayed here over the New Years holiday and it was the perfect location. Short walk across the street to the ocean, we walked down the beach about 10 minutes to several restaurants, all excellent food and an ice cream shop as well as little souvenier shops. There is also a sidewalk all the way down, we always felt safe, and even a free trolly that will take you anywhere on the island. Our room was on the 2nd floor and gave a beautiful view of the very well kept landscaping. Really nice to open your door and see palms right there. The room itself was perfect, bigger than we expected (king size room) Everything was always clean and the decor was nice and comfy. All staff that we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful, always smiling :) It was a great stay!
“A piece of heaven”
- Jan.6, 2013 - Hainesport, New Jersey
My first experience staying on Anna Maria Island, I found a piece of heaven at The Torguga Resort. The view is amazing from my 2nd floor guf view studio, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. I didn't want my vacation to end and can't wait to return again.
“Spectacular efficiency room directly on the Intracoastal Waterway and steps from beautiful Gulf of Mexico Beach”
- Jan. 5, 2012 - The Villages, Florida
Three nights in paradise for the New Year holiday. All was perfect and it was pet friendly for our two little ones. Quiet, clean and perfectly located. Boat slips are also available. Small French take out with great food also on premises.
“Christmas Vacation at the Beach”
- Jan. 5, 2013 - Lutz, Florida
The accomodations were spacious, comfortable and beachy. This was a great place if you are traveling with a dog. Some places may tolerate pets, but the Tortuga Inn was pet friendly. The staff was very helpful about giving you information regarding the area, but also very respectful about your privacy. The take-out restaurant made excellent paninis. I also enjoyed the master bath as I could almost lie down in the tub.
“Romantic Anniversary Celebration”
- Jan. 5, 2013 - Plant City, Florida
My wife and I wanted to do something special to commemorate our 10 year anniversary before I left for Afghanistan. The Tortuga Inn website caught my eye and we are both so glad that it did! We stayed in one of the 1 bedroom 1 bath deluxe suites and I must say I agree with other posts that say the pictures do not do it justice. The room was huge with nicely done with granite countertops, tile flooring, a jacuzzi tub and large shower. Although the nightly rate was a little more than I initially intended to spend, once I saw the room I was glad I went for it. I really doubt I could have got comparable bang for my buck nearby.
Lisa, the hotel concierge, was amazing. After contacting Lisa with a couple of ideas, she pro-actively coordinated an amazing stay for us that included a couples massage at the local spa, rose petals and champagne in the room, and a vow renewal ceremony on the beach all at a very reasonable price. Awesome!
The only reason I did not give an excellent rating was that there were some maintenance issues with the jacuzzi- one of the faucet knobs wasn't tigntened down and kept falling off, and the jacuzzi jets weren't working. Kind of a bummer.
Still, by the time our stay was done we both had the romantic boost and memorable anniversary experience we were seeking. Definitely a recommended experience and we are interested in another stay there. Thanks Lisa and Tortuga Staff!
There is actually a lovely beach across from the Inn and if you're up to it, you can walk all the way to the tip of the island. (the entire island is 7 miles). If you do go, please visit the french restaurant in town. It is fantastic in all ways. The service and the food are New York five star all of the way.
“Everything you thought it would be and more.”
- Dec.30, 2012 - Douglas, Mass.
This Inn is exactly what it seems to be; it is first class all the way. The rooms are spotlessly cleaned, the staff is friendly and helpful. Each room is huge with a first class touch to all of the furnishings. Although you are not on the tip of the island (the Anna Maria Beach section), there is not much up that way that would compare to this kind of class. It's worth the peace of mind to stay here, rent a bike (they deliver) and ride to the tip of the island (takes about 15 minutes or so depending on how fast you ride.)

By the way, there was a huge wedding party having a party one evening; when we closed our door and jumped in bed we didn't hear a thing: sound proof is nice!
Make sure you go to Bean Beach on the Anna Maria side; it has green waters and white sands. All it all , the inn allowed us to explore the island and enjoy our stay. We will return.
If you want to see pictures, go to loreenritter.com. Right now it shows the Anna Maria Island pictures, but if it doesn't, scroll down on the left to "see more on Flickr" click there and go to the Anna Maria file.

We traveled from Belize and stayed at the Tortuga Beach Resort visiting our Family. When we arrived the Staff were all smiles, Welcomed us , and were so friendly! The room was beautiful and clean as well as the grounds. We hope to have our family reunion there next year! Thank-you for eveything!
“Christmas 2012”
- Dec.28, 2012
This was our 2nd Christmas on AMI at the Tortuga Inn. We spontaneous decided to head south again before Christmas. We called them and they had a unit that fit our needs exactly. I am very picky about my accommodations....very clean, well-appointed, up-to-date, full kitchen, baths, etc. Two of the little things that I like are that the units we have stayed in (Bayside and Garden Deluxe Apt) are really well lit throughout the unit from overhead to lamps and all the light switches are marked as to what turns on what.....I hate constantly figuring out what switch does what and by the time you leave you finely have it figured out. You can have maid service or choose not too depending on the length of your stay. We had it included but did use it and everyday, they respected our privacy, and left clean towels, kitchen necessities and took the trash. My husband wants a place that offers the "one-stop" entertainment for our kids ranging in age from 10-17 when we aren't out doing something and the Tortuga offers that too...2 pools, the beach on the Gulf side and the boat dock to fish to your heart's desire on the Bay side. We saw dolphins everyday either Gulf side or bayside. My kids hopped from beach, to pool to dock, catching everything from redfish to grouper to puffer fish and many more. There is a beautiful Blue Heron that lives in the area and came over every time they fished to get in on the bait. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The parking is accommodating for big SUV's (not all places are). We will return in 2013.
“An Amazing Place”
- Dec.28, 2012 - Riverview, Florida
December 2012 my son was married on Anna Maria Island and we chose the Tortuga as the hotel for the wedding party and guests. We had an amazing experience. The staff was friendly, accomodating and extremelly helpful. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the property as well as the well appointed, clean, and well upkept rooms and suites. We had the opportunity to see many of the different accomodations since we had so many people at the Inn and each stayed in different buildings on the property. As a business traveler that spends more than 100 nights a year in hotels, I have to give this property one of the highest ratings. Staying here will make you smile and feel that you you got an excellent value!!! P.S. Make sure to try the crepes!!!...I I would cook breakfast for myself until I tasted the food....DELICIOUS!!!!!!
Room Tip: As I stated I was in many of the suites. I would stay in any one of them again....and plan too!!
“We had a great time!”
- Dec.20, 2012 - Manasquan, New Jersey
We were staying at the Tortuga Beach Resort to attend a December wedding on Anna Maria Island. We had the room overlooking the bay and watched the sunrise from our room every morning. It was absolutely beautiful and incredible. Our room was clean and really, really nice. We would ask for this room again. Overall, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate all of our needs/requests. Loved the overall ambiance of the resort. The beach is right across the street and was great! We would definitely recommend to others and will stay there again when we come down to visit family.
Room Tip: The sunrise from the room (256) overlooking the bay is incredible.
“Wonderful customer service”
- Dec.17, 2012 - Monroe, North Carolina
Of all the hotels I called this was the first one that answered with a live person who was more than willing to help and didn't seem to think I was a bother with all my questions! Beverley listened to my needs, made a couple of suggestions, and they were perfect! Everyone there was friendly and accommodating! location was perfect and rooms were clean and laid out nicely. I will definitely return!
Room Tip: A room near the front pool is ideal

I was on Anna Maria Island for a wedding this December and decided to make it a vacation. I loved the tortuga, my room was nice and clean. The staff was great. The beach is a walk across the street. I utilized the free trolley for transportation all over the island. I hope I can come back soon.
“Amazing experience”
- Dec.6, 2012 - Manasquan, New Jersey
What a wonderful, quaint hotel. When we pulled up I felt like I was driving into Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville, very tropical. I got excited the minute I saw it. We were only there from Friday-Sunday for a wedding, wish we could of stayed longer. All of the staff were exceptional. everything from our check in, telling us a bit about the island to our check out, which they were absolutley wonderful, our flight was delayed 5 hours and they definelty took care of us. Our room was gorgeous, we had the 2 bed/2 bath garden apartment, we have 2 teenage girls so we need the room and the price was great, It was decorated beautifully and very clean, we ended up with 2 extra kids our second night, but no problem because the couch in the living room was a pullout, easy peasy. The island itself is absolutley adorable and can;t wait to get back to experience more of it.
“Fantastic getaway!”
- Dec.6, 2012 - Washington, United Kingdom
We live very hectic lives in DC. We were invited to a wedding in Bradenton Beach in December 2012 and took a few days to celebrate our friends' promise of a lifetime of love. The flights were awful, the taxis were expensive... but the hotel was fabulous. They are super accommodating (we arrived in the middle of the night and were able to get into our room), have nicely kept rooms, a very beautifully manicured property, & beautiful views of the water. The front desk staff provided excellent customer service, the gift shop and cafe on property were extremely convenient for us, and they are right across the street from the free trolley, numerous restaurants, and the calm of the glittery oceanfront. This trip added a much needed calm to our lives and we cannot wait to return!
“Tortuga Beach Resort, Bradenton Beach”
- Dec.1, 2012 - Lakeland, FL
We just dropped in Tortuga Beach Resort "by accident". We were visiting the area and decided to stay overnight. Every hotel we drove by was closed, until we drove by Tortuga Beach Resort, and we are very glad we did. The price was great, and the room was absolutely beautiful and super clean. We are already planning to make our next visit an extended one, and will definitely stay there again.
“Tortuga Beach Resort - Exceptional!”
- Nov.29, 2012 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
We just returned from another wonderful stay at the Tortuga Beach Resort. This time, we stayed in a Garden Deluxe 1 bedroom with a partial view of Sarasota Bay...and didn't want to ever leave. Every morning, we sat on the lanai and enjoyed watching the pelicans fly toward the bay. The furniture and decor make you feel like you are in the Tropics. We enjoyed the huge kitchen, dining room, comfortable living room, bedroom and a bathroom with double sinks - fit for a King! The Tortuga is right across from the beach...it's so convenient to just walk a few steps and you're right on the beach. You can watch dolphins, sandpipers and pelicans. It is a picture-perfect location. We have stayed at other resorts on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key...all were nice, but The Tortuga is our favorite place. The staff is very helpful and recommended many new places to eat nearby. We love it so much that we've already booked our flight to come back in January!
Room Tip: The top floor rooms in the Bayview Gardens area are spectacular and worth the extra money!

Just returned from our 5-day stay at the Tortuga and can say it was the amazing . We stayed in a Garden 2-bedroom apartment and absolutely fell in love with it! So clean! Our 11 yr-old grandson stayed in the 2nd bedroom and felt like a king with his own television and refrigerator. The staff were very helpful and eager to please. Being across the street from the Gulf and able to walk to Gulf Drive Cafe and Beach House (both have great food) were a definite plus. There is no doubt we will be back there again.
“Tortuga Beach Resort is to be recommended”
- Nov.25, 2012 - Ottawa, Canada
We arrived on Anna Maria Island just after 6 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012. To our surprise, the first 6 hotels or motels we encountered were closed, even though most still had an "open" sign out or lit. Travelling north-to-south, Tortuga Beach Resort was the first place that was open. While being the only place open might not be a great reason for selecting a hotel, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. The reception staff were very friendly on arrival and departure. They offered good advice and directions on local activities like tennis and golf. The facility is well maintained and attractive. The room (248A) was spotless. The floors are all hardwood or tile and were very clean. The bathroom, including the white tiles of the shower, gleamed. The kitchen was well-equipped. It was a nice bonus to have a full kitchen for the price one usually pays for a room only. Another bonus was access to a washing machine and dryer. I went loaded up with quarters only to find it was free for guests. The hotel is right across the beach from a long, beautiful beach. And there are many fine restaurants and stores in close vicinity. We liked the area enough to want to go back and when we do, we will definitely look into staying at the Tortuga Beach Resort again.
“Tortuga Beach Resort”
- Nov.18, 2012 - Ogunquit, Maine
I recently traveled to Anna Maria Island for a destination wedding. The bride and groom recommended this hotel, and since they are both in the hospitality industry, there was no reason to look any further. From my initial conversation with Lisa, who was extremely helpful and nice, my contact with the hotel was a pleasure. Our unit was huge, comfortable and had more amenities than we expected. Since we were there for five nights, it was great to be able to spread out and have plenty of room for the three of us. The location of the resort was convenient to everything, and we all loved the fact that we weren't in the typical Florida high-rise hotels. Such a beautiful area!
“Maid of Honor”
- Nov.15, 2012 - Tampa, FL
11/9/12-11/11/12 for an Italian wedding. From the moment I stepped in my room I thought,"wow, this place is immaculate"! My pet-friendly room in the South Palm Court was perfect for my little poodle to hang out with us on the private patio. The wedding was beautiful at sunset. 45 minutes later we were eating and dancing in the penthouse. A short walk down the street to Gulf Drive Cafe and the Beach House. Pool is heated! Great for a winter visit! Liked the tropical feeling and the Koi fish.
“Again a great stay”
- Nov.11, 2012 -
Stayed this time in unit 270 with family, had a partial sea view great screened balcony. We have visited here before in several different sized units but are never disappointed. The units are imacculate well equipped and from arrival to departure you are well looked after. We will be back again I have no doubt.
“A Little Bit of Paradise!”
- Nov.9, 2012 - Chicago, IL
This was my second visit, but it certainly won't be my last. You can't beat this resort for great location, service and a great bargain. I couldn't stay a week, but got their special - stay four nights for the price of three. Such a deal! I upgraded my accommodations from the year before and had a wonderful condo with a screened-in lanai right off the master bedroom so I could feel the great gulf breeze. Everything is spotless and the kitchen is nicely equipped so you can cook in if you like. They've upgraded their facility since I was there last year. The office is new and they've added a small shop where you can buy wine, souvenirs, sundry items. There is a handy bistro as well with breakfast, lunch and dinner items.
“AWESOME PLACE TO STAY”
- Nov.1, 2012 - Orlando, FL
I had always wanted to stay here and finally got the chance. I was not disappointed. The room was very clean. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. They have a pier at the rear of the property and a private beach across the street with lounge chairs provided. The room had kitchen ware even though it had no kitchen in it, which was great because no one thinks to bring these things. The overall atmosphere was friendly and beautiful. I would definitely stay there again and try one of the studios or 1 bedrooms there. Even though I did not have the staff clean my room they left extra towels and toiletries outside my door. The Inn is also within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Kudos to the staff.. they are terrific.
“Once again, it was great”
- Oct. 30, 2012 - Orlando, FL
My lovely wife was turning 50, I let her pick anywhere she wanted to go. Her choice was the Tortuga. This is our 13th or 14th time we have visited them. Needless to say, we will be back again. It offers everything we are looking for in a get-away place. Dog friendly, dock for our boat & clean comfortable rooms. Thanks Tortuga for making her 50th celebration wonderful. See you soon. really love this place. A real find. Oh and we were there for a wedding which was simply amazing on the beach, just a fantastic time.

“Tortuga Beach Resort - Anna Maria Island Florida---Wonderful Place!!”
- Oct. 27, 2012 - Saint Louis, Missouri
I have stayed on Anna Maria Island many times as well as got married on the island and I have always came back to the Tortuga. This place is absolutely a perfect get away..right on the beach, wonderful staff and perfect resort. I have stayed in a number of the rooms and have not found one yet that did not exceed my expectations.
Anna Maria is a quiet beautiful place with many places to eat, shop, swim, relax and the Tortuga fits right in. The rooms are nice, very roomy and give a beachy feel that is within steps of the private beach with free beach chairs. If you are looking for a place to visit on the island I have seen no other that compares to the Tortuga. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you do whatever they can to make your stay more comfortable and perfect. I have never had a problem staying here ---with anything! There is a free trolly on the island that takes you wherever you want to go and runs all day or if you want to walk the island is only 7 miles long from end to end--filled with dining and shops. I without a doubt recommend the Tortuga --I will come back again and again as I do every year!
“Tortuga Beach Resort Review”
- Oct. 23, 2012 - Muncie, Indiana
Just returned from the Tortuga Beach Resort in Bradenton Beach Anna Maria Island, Florida. We had such a wonderful time that I wanted to share the news. The resort was so much more for the money than I expected. Our room was huge and had two bedrooms, two baths, a dining room, living room, kitchen, laundry room, and screened in deck. The decor was beautiful and exceptionally clean. From checking in to checking out the staff was very friendly and accomadating. I will return here year after year as the pools were spotless and the ocean was warm. The parking was free which is rare these days. We really love this place. A real find. Oh and we were there for a wedding which was simply amazing on the beach, just a fantastic time.
“Girlfriend's Getaway at Tortuga Inn”
- Oct.20, 2012 - Saint Louis, Missouri
My wife and I visited Tortuga Inn for four days and three nights, courtesy of (my wife's) win of (a) Girlfriend's Getaway contest on Facebook. We weren't expecting the wonderful experience that we received. I tell you without reservation that everything was fantastic (without exaggeration)! The staff is pleasant, approachable (which is not always the case at some hotels and/or vacation locations), knowledgeable and more than willing to assist in any way possible. The suite was far above anything we expected, as we had two HUGE bedrooms (king-sized beds), each with their own bathroom, a spacious living room area, full, completely stocked kitchen, a veranda with a great view, a heated pool outside of the bedroom window, just steps away for use and convenient parking with elevator access from the parking garage to our floor.
Tortuga Inn is located on Anna Maria Island, across the (draw)bridge from Bradenton, Florida. Anna Maria Island is seven miles long. When you arrive, you can park your car and leave it parked, since the island has a FREE trolley (yes, I said free) that runs every twenty minutes and takes you within feet of any place on the island that you wish to visit. Be advised, however, there are so many restaurants and shopping places on the island, you'd need a few weeks to visit them all. But, we only had four days, which is hardly enough time to enjoy this peaceful and beautiful place.
Anyway, my wife and I are so grateful to the staff at Tortuga Inn, from the front desk to the housekeeping staff, to the "handyman" that directed us to the local churches, to the cafe next door with the excellent croissants. We offer to all of you our heartiest "thank you", with the promise that we will return in the future.
Last, for anyone that wishes to have a few days of pure luxury, Tortuga Inn is the place. Out of ten stars, we give Tortuga Inn a "fifteen"; yes, it is really "that good".
We pray that Tortuga Inn will continue to have great success, that the rooms will always be filled to capacity and that everyone will have the time of their lives, a beautiful, exciting and peaceful vacation experience, like we did. Tortuga Inn will not be forgotten by us, guaranteed. Anyone that comes to us seeking a place for a fantastic vacation experience will be sent your way, because everyone deserves to experience this luxury at least once in their life. Again, our thanks to all of you and we will see you again sometime in the near future.
“PARADISE”
- Oct.19, 2012 - Orlando, Florida
I decided to do a girls trip for my birthday...something laid back and relaxing. I found this place online and thought it was cute. When I got there i was surprised just to how cute and clean it was. It brought a smile to my face when i checked in and went to my room. They allowed us to check in early which was great and the room was extremely clean. All of us girls thought it was the perfect room and place for what we came there for. We only spent two nights and after the first night they supplied us with more towels, soap, coffee and dishwasher soap, without us even asking. I love the sliding glass door which we left opened alot. The beach was amazing. Just a short walk across the street and they supplied the chairs, umbrellas and towels. It was spectacular! We all decided that we are going to make this an annual girls trip...we didnt want to leave. And I am already making plans to go back! It was a memorable experience im looking forward to repeating!
“Excellent Vacation Getaway”
- Oct.18, 2012 - Indian Harbour Beach, Florida
Excellent service from making our reservation to check-out. Our room/suite was incredible, perfect for all of our family to gather and relax. Beautiful beach! Excellent Pastry cafe! Beautiful property! Boat slips available. We are really looking forward to our next stay at Tortuga Beach Resort! We couldn't think of staying anywhere else. Outstanding!
“Wedding Paradise”
- Oct.17, 2012 - Rochester, New Hampshire
Our daughter chose Anna Maria Island for a "destination wedding". In looking for a hotel that could accomodate family and friends traveling to the wedding, they decided on the Tortuga Beach Resort. We couldn't be happier! We rented a suite that was very spacious and comfortable. The majority of those attending also stayed at the resort and every report was exemplary. Friendly staff, great location. It truly is paradise!
“Only place we stay. Best on the island.”
- Oct.17, 2012 - Tampa, FL
Only drawback, have to cross the street to get on the beach, but you can dock right at the resort. Charter fishing? Pickup at the dock! Semi-secluded, peaceful. Friendly staff. New takeout cafe on premise.
“Perfect Getaway”
- Oct. 16, 2012 - Tampa Florida
If you're looking for the perfect spot to get away for a week or a weekend, look no further than the Tortuga Inn Beach Resort on Anna Maria Island. The genuine hospitality of this property is surpassed only by its beautiful surroundings. Soft, sugary white sand, gentle Gulf water, and a tranquil atmospher combine to create the perfect setting for good ol' fashoined R & R. I have been coming here for more than five years and always stay at the Tortuga Inn. It's a great place to stay whether you're planning a family vacation with the kids or a romantic weekend with your spouse. Staff is always freindly, room are always clean, and the grounds are always impeccably maintained. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else....the Tortuga is my 'home away from home'.
“Great weekend getaway”
- Oct. 8, 2012
The Tortuga Inn is perfect for a romantic getaway or a vacation with the family. There are many accommodation options. Our "room" was a gorgeous, spacious, well-appointed apartment, which was wonderfully well-priced, as well. The beach location is perfect. I love, love, love this little inn!
“Another Amazing Anniversary @ Tortuga”
- Oct. 8, 2012 - North Georgia
Celebrated our 19th anniversary (the 2nd here at Tortuga) in September. Off season provides a nice quiet experience. Our Dogchild always with us and one of the many reasons we love Tortuga. The weather was rainy but we had a couple of good days. Alot of standing water around the resort which you had to walk through to get to the room. No way around it. They did the best they could to remove it. We stayed in the Palm Court again in a studio, love the tropical feel with the private patios. Plenty of room and again took advantage of the full kitchen and grills. Ate in most nights to keep costs down. New check in area looked great with the granite countertop. Didn't try the new restaurant. Loved walking down to the Gulf Drive Cafe for breakfast on the patio while dolphin watching. Then walking the beach back to the resort. Spent as much time on the beach as we could with the rain. Excited to see they plan to build a new pergola on the beach. We love this place and will be back as many times as we can afford. THANKS GUYS!!
“Gorgeous Accomodations in a Gorgeous Setting”
- Oct. 4, 2012 - Greenville, South Carolina
We stayed here a year ago and absolutely loved it. There was one incident where it got a bit loud across the hall but otherwise we had no trouble. The view to the Gulf was breathtaking, the rooms were decorated beautifully and I highly recommend the enormous shower with two heads. All around fabulous. We hoped to go again next week but it was booked so we are going somewhere else. Highly recommended! Enjoy! The beach access is directly across the street and the inn is close to local dining establishments.

“Great find on Anna Maria Island”
- Oct. 1, 2012 - Ithaca, New York
For our first stay on this island, we loved the "old Florida" feel of Anna Maria Island (Key West for grownups), and Tortuga Inn provided the perfect spot to enjoy the island. The office staff was so helpful and friendly - from choosing a room while booking the reservation over the phone to mapping out restaurants, shops, beaches and bike trails once we arrived. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Small French cafe right on the property sells great coffee to start the day. Our queen room overlooking the front parking lot was cute and clean with a nicely updated luxury bath. Our room was near the pool, which thankfully shuts down at 10 p.m. for quiet hours. Great access to private beach, right across the street. Rental bikes were delivered to us - a fun way to see the island. Highly recommend Tortuga.
“A Spontanious Wedding To Remember”
- Sept. 29, 2012 - Mount Dora, Florida
The day we were getting married was exciting and spontanious. Lisa Bean at Tortuga offered to perform our wedding ceremony. The garden area near the pool was a perfect spot for our vows. Photos by the bay and at the beach to follow. Sounds wonderful, right?? Well, we never expected this story! We drove to the Tortuga, where we were to be married.....it rained! Even harder as we got out of the car. The staff welcomed us with open arms and towels to dry us off. Reschedule the wedding? No way! Through the expertise of Lisa and support of Tortuga staff, we were married in THE GIFT SHOP of the Tortuga Beach Resort! What a wonderful experience! The ceremony will always be remembered as special because of the staff at Tortuga and we look forward to returning in the future.
“Very Relaxing place to stay”
- Sept. 19, 2012 - New York
Just spent Saturday to Wednesday here. We hated to leave. The place was very clean and very well layed out. The foliage, ponds, etc are beautiful. It is a nice location right across from the beach but also on the inlet side. The people were helpful and friendly. The pools were well located. It wasnt too busy so that might have added to the peacefulness. Easy walking distance to the tiki bar, fish house and bridge street. The trolley stops are right in front of the entrance. Easy to get any where. I would greatly recommend it...only downside were the birds that would wake me up every night fighting in the bushes on the bay side..:)
“In one word: perfect”
- Sept. 3, 2012 - Saint Paul, Minnesota
I struggled with what to rate this hotel. I know they aren't extensive with a spa or breakfast buffet...but if you go in with reasonable expectations and really want a great family location, this truly is five stars. First off, we have stayed in the past in both the older and newer gardens buildings. This time we stayed in the older building, two bedroom, one bath unit on the second floor. The full kitchen had everything you'd need including dish washer detergent and coffee filters. We really enjoyed the daily room service. The pool is small but well maintained with many community toys for sharing. Towel service, well stocked front laundries store, free washer and dryer use. The small crepes to go store was EXCELLENT. would highly recommend the crepes....good prices as well. The location is fantastic within walking distance to many restaurants, across the street from a fabulous beach. Included in your stay are multiple beach chairs and umbrellas, even though it was labor day weekend, they didn't run out. Overall, I would highly recommend this location and truly enjoyed our time here.
“I wanna go back...”
- August 30, 2012 - Lafayette, Indiana
What a beautiful place. The room was just perfect, a wonderful home away from home. It was quiet, and very Island-like. The lush garden atmosphere keeps this little Inn almost undetected from the outside world. There was parking under the building right next to the elevator. There were two pools. One for people with children, and one more discreet in the center of the Inn. The staff was warm and friendly. I would want my business run by such fine people. The beach was just across the street. The inn provided umbrellas and lounge chairs free of charge. I felt like it was our little stretch of beach! The sandwiches at the french cafe were excellent. I will stay at Tortuga Inn whenever I come to Florida if it is available. The last time we stayed at the Hilton on Long Boat Key. It was nice....but this was perfect.
“Beautiful!”
- August 25, 2012 - Vincennes, Indiana
This place is a hidden gem! I say hidden because of the beautiful lush tropical trees that almost hide the inn from the street! The rooms are decorated with a turtle theme. The showers are huge! The gulf is just a very short walk across the street. To top it off they have FREE lounge chairs and umbrellas for the guests to use at the beach, thats right FREE, I have always been charged at least $18.00 a day for chairs elsewhere! The front desk staff is very friendly and offer suggestions on places to eat and thigs to do. I almost didnt write a review because I wanted to keep the gem a secret and all to myself!
“Tortuga Inn & Resort, Anna Maria Island, Florida”
- August 20, 2012 - Poinciana, Florida
Just had my 5th stay at the Tortuga Inn....I would love to say it gets better every visit....but
the excellence we experienced on our very first stay is what keeps bringing us back.
They have added a new welcome check in area and a wonderful little french take out
service. Had sandwiches and an amazing breakfast on this visit. Very convenient to leav e
beach and pick up a snack. Of course, 6th visit will be in the near future!
“Perfect Get-Away”
- August 17, 2012 - Pinellas Park, Florida
We recently stayed at the Tortuga Inn and found it to be very clean, comfortable, and almost like home. We stayed in a unit in the Bayfront Villa South. It was very spacious, and accomodated the 3 of us very nicely. The virtual tour is a very accurate description of the accomodations. This was our 2nd trip to Anna Maria Island, and as one of our favorite places to vacation we will definately be staying at the Tortuga Inn again.
Make this your choice...it's a good one!!
“Perfection!”
- July 24, 2012 - Friendswood
This summer was our second stay at Tortuga Inn. My husband and I celebrated our 20 yr. anniversary at Tortuga in June 2011, and were very pleased. We loved it so much, we decided to bring our children this summer - June 2012. I can't say enough about the bay side villas. The upstairs bayside villa south is so very romantic with the most gorgeous view of the bay - sunrise and sunset are surreal. The view from this room is spectacular - it stretches across the entire width of your room. Women will love the oversized bathroom......you could fit an entire family inside the enclosed shower (two shower heads), and next to it is a very large jacuzzi tub. You also have private access to the downstairs jacuzzi that fronts the bay - gorgeous view. Bayside north was perfect for our family of 6. Plenty of space with 2 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. Nice kitchen with everything you need to cook. Two bathrooms that are very spacious with double sinks in both. The villas are upscale in their decor and very updated from countertops to flooring. The view from the north villa is also spectacular. I can't say enough about the attached patio at bayside north. Very large and gated to your very own private swimming pool that literally faces the bay. Take two steps from the pool, and you are IN the bay! It is absolutely amazing. You simply cannot get a better view than this - you are right on the water. The maids made sure we always had plenty of towels and replenished our kitchen and bathroom toiletries daily (we stayed 4 nights). The Publix grocery store is under 5 minutes away. It was such a short walk to the beautiful, pristine, white beach. The water is so clear, it is just amazing. There were days the ocean was more like a swimming pool. A major perk at Tortuga are the complimentary beach towels, umbrellas, and lounge chairs. You just can't ask for anything more. Tortuga takes care of all of your needs. We intend on making this a yearly tradition for our family. I almost forgot......the lush, tropical floral and foilage that surround the grounds is just gorgeous.
“Spacious, quiet, clean”
- July 24, 2012 - Texas
3 girlfriends and I stayed at the Tortuga Inn the last weekend in June. We rented a 2-BR, 2 BA garden apartment. It was great- plenty of space, decent kitchen, clean, and the Inn itself is right across the street from the beach. There is dedicated covered parking in each building, which is a plus. The beds are comfortable, bathrooms are a nice size.
There is a Publix within a 5-minute drive, so stocking the fridge was easy. We had sandwiches for lunch one day from the on-site cafe; they were tasty and we could stay on the beach while a couple of us made the sandwich run across the street. I would recommend this if you are looking for a low-stress, low-key beach weekend, away from party crowds and noise.
“Garden Apt - 2 BRM Deluxe”
- July 16, 2012 - Lincoln, Nebraska
We stayed in the Garden Apt - 2 BRM Deluxe for the second time. The exact same room, however, this time we rented the extra bedroom in the apt for our kids. This time they had their own room, bathroom and we even had access to another closet. This is a roomy apartment that is very clean and well kept. There is a washer/dryer in the unit and I can't stress how important that is during a beach vacation! We washed our suits/clothes every day. Not every room has a w/d in the room, but this larger unit does. So nice.
The location is nice and the beach is excellent. Plenty of chairs and towels. My small children love the pool, which is very warm:)
We were here in 2011 and since then they have added a new coffee/sandwich shop. Absolutely wonderful.
This is a very casual island so keep that in mind if you are visiting. No dressy clothing needed unless you are going to the 'Beach Bistro' which is EXCELLENT.
“Spacious & clean with great location”
- July 9, 2012 - Tampa Bay
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights in June and had a a fun, relaxing time. We had a condo situated on the side of the building with a partial view of the Gulf of Mexico and it was light, clean and spacious. The photos on the website don't do it justice. The kitchen was modern and the rooms were tastefully decorated with tile floors throughout (a plus for allergy sufferers). The beds were very comfortable (even the pull-out was comfortable, according to the kids and they know their pull-outs!). The pools were clean and never over crowded and the private beach had lots of beach chairs available and the hotel provides beach umbrellas for those who want them. Overall we had an enjoyable staycation and will definitely recommend it to visitors to the area.
“Great Experience”
- July 5, 2012 - Wauchula, Florida
My wife and I stayed here last year and had an excellent experience. The condo we stayed in was immaculate and we had access to a dock for our boat and a private beach across the street. Will definitely come back to the Tortuga on our next trip to Bradenton Beach!
“Quiet and beautiful”
- June 26, 2012 - Reston, Florida
y family and I were there last August for my sister-in-law's wedding. The place was beautiful and we had our own private beach right across the street. We would definitely come back for a quiet relaxing visit.
“Perfect location on Anna Maria Island!”
- June 19, 2012 - Reston, Florida
We have stayed at Tortuga Inn twice within the last 6 months. The first time we were in a condo with another couple and the second time my husband and I stayed in the hotel. Both stays were very enjoyable. The staff was helpful, friendly, professional, and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our visit on Anna Maria. All the accommodations are quiet, clean, and very nicely appointed. They also think of everything you might need for the your stay including towels & chairs for the beach, which is just across the street. We have stayed at other locations on Anna Maria, but they do not compare to Tortuga Inn. Thanks, Ellie & Tom B.
“Great Stay!”
- June 13, 2012 - Apopka, Florida
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and the grounds were beautiful!! Front desk very friendly and helpful!! Even though it was across the street from the beach they have chairs on the beach for you, beach towels and umbrella's to use. They suggested some great restaurants including the Rod & Reel which we loved!!!
“Another Enjoyable Stay!”
- June 11, 2012 - Weeki Wachee, Florida
Listen ya'll. This is the second my family and my friends stayed here. The place is very nice and very clean. The staff is also very courteous and friendly. They were all very professional. Guess what...we already booked our stay for next year.
If you are looking for place to stay in Anna Maria Island, stop looking. This is definitely were you need to be!
Thanks,
Joe
“Great Spot for a get-away!!!”
- June 11, 2012 - Riverview, Florida
Just left there this morning and already miss it. We were in 157 and 258. Two Bedroom/2bath, private pool overlooking the inter-costal. Beautiful sunrise, quiet and relaxing. Anna Maria is a well kept secret for sure. The staff at the Tortuga were great! Very nice people there.
“Relaxing”
- June 4, 2012 - Doylestown, Pa
My husband and I have stayed at the Tortuga on 4 different occasions. The hotel is very peaceful and perfectly located for all the things we like to do on vacation. It's directly across the the street from the beach where we ususlly position our selves on beach chairs under unbrellas that are provided by the hotel. We usually end our day with an evening dip in the lovely perfectly heated pool. We walk in the morning, rent bikes and enjoy "walking" to the local restaurants for dinner.
The staff is great, clean beach and pool towels always available. Some times it's just the simple things that make all the difference.
Can't wait to return next March.
“Loved it and will return”
- June 4, 2012 - Gloucester, Massachusetts
We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath standard apartment..it was beautiful, clean and plenty of room for 4 of us. It was so quiet. Beautiful kitchen, living room, lanai, 2 bedrooms with King size beds and 2 beautiful and spacious bathrooms. I loved the huge walk in shower. Walk in closet with ironing board and iron. The other bedroom had a microwave and small refrigerator, it could have been locked off and rented separately. Washer & Dryer..everything you could possibly need. Maids came in and cleaned and left coffee and clean towels everyday. I could have lived there it was so comfortable. The pools were nice and there are beach towels, umbrellas and plenty of chairs on the beach with is right across the 2 lane street...We will be going back. The office staff are very helpful and there is a computer in the office for guests use. Maintenance was so fast to come and replace a light bulb and fix a blind. The property is well maintained and kept spotless clean..Nothing to worry about here..just come & relax..loved it !! The beds were so comfortable..slept so good here..
“Most wonderful place in the world to stay”
- June 1, 2012 - LAKE WALES
The Tortuga is the most wonderful place in the world!! The setting is so tranquil and relaxing, the views are exquizet!! We have been visiting for 14 years and we will keep going for all our years to come! The staff is AMAZING they are always so kind, happy, and helpful! They Always have a smile on their faces, which make us feel at home. We have been in most all the rooms and they are so clean, decorated to the max with a beach theme. Love them!!
“Romantic and exquisite”
- May 27, 2012
Can't imagine a better, more amazing, place to have celebrated our anniversary at. We stayed in the semi private rooms on the bay and were thrilled with the view, the room, the bathroom, the service, having actual French food for breakfast at Le Petite Café and the ability to grab an umbrella and some towels and walk out to the private beach. Can't recommend Tortuga enough!
“Great Vacation Spot”
- May 26, 2012 - Belding, Michigan
Great spot that we return to year after year. They have a new Bistro on the premises. We have not tried this yet. We are booked again for next year, which supports my review. Can't wait!
“Tortuga Inn for Destination Weddings”
- May 25, 2012 - Portage, Michigan
Anitra and the staff were very accommodating and made the wedding planning process a breeze. They even helped us put together and disperse wedding packets for all of our guests. Our friends and family that stayed at the resort absolutely loved it! The resort and rooms are fantastic. They look just like pictures we saw online. The front desk staff were never without recommendations and maps for everything you wanted to know about Anna Maria Island. They made great suggestions for dining out and other activities. We couldn't have asked for more of our Tortuga experience. We can't wait to come back!
“Fun, relaxing and beautiful”
- May 20, 2012 - Ithaca, New York
I enjoyed staying here very much. The atmosphere was luxurious, calm and very catering. The staff want to meet your needs and they go above and beyond to make sure the guests are happy. My room was very clean, I had all the luxury a 5 star should offer and I also had the comforts of home. I would recommend this property to anyone. Its pricey but sometimes you just have to splurge to enjoy the benefits of a luxury exotic vacation!!
“Best of both worlds”
- May 19, 2012
We stayed in room 157 (bay front) and shared a semi-private pool that looked over the bay. It was quiet, scenic, very comfortable and clean. We had a private patio for our unit by the pupil, two spacious bedrooms with private baths And an ample kitchen. The staff was discreet and very helpful. We could walk out onto the dock and fish in the bay. The beach was across the street but it was a short walk to the private beach and we did not mind it. There were chairs and towels and beach umbrellas for our use. Very easy and convenient. The water was clear blue and lovely.
The only (small) caveats would be that the small private pool did not get skimmed each day and some debris accumulated and the jet ski concession next door on the beach parked some vehicles along the beach line and encroached on some waterline space on the beach. These were no deterrent to our enjoyment of the trip.
We all recommend a stay here!!
“Great resort for families”
- May 2, 2012 - Washington DC, District of Columbia
We were greeted by very friendly and helpful main desk staff. Our suite was located on the ground level and we loved the private fenced in patio. The kitchen was very clean, and we enjoyed cooking fresh seafood for dinner - a much better value than the local tourist restaurants. The highlights of the resort are the ability to see sunrise at the dock and sunset on the beach each day without leaving the resort. The courtyard pool was too chilly to swim in, and the large main pool was delightfully warm and filled with toys for my daughter to play with. We highly recommend stopping in the cafe each morning for freshly made croissants and crepes. We would definitely stay here again.
“Friendly staff and good value”
- April 25, 2012 - Orland Park, Illinois
We've been here for 5 days and checking out tomorrow. We had rm 227. Nice space with a good kitchen, large shower, and good size bathroom. They have two pools with a private beach across the road. Tortuga provides beach chairs and even umbrellas. There are also a bunch of pool toys for the kids. They recommended several places to eat like Mr Bones and Cortez Kitchen. For breakfast nothing better then Peaches. It's small but but friendly and great food.
The only negative was out bed. It needed to be retired. They could also use some slip proof strips in the shower. The tile gets slick.
We would come back again. Very reasonable.
“Just as pictured on website!”
- April 23, 2012 - Buffalo
Our stay was during Easter week. Due to an early flight, we arrived before our Palm Court North unit was ready, but the front desk called us while we were having lunch at the City Pier to let us know when it was ready. I was pleasantly surprised to find that our lodgings were exactly as pictured on the Inn's website and everything was spotlessly clean. We were on the second floor overlooking the pool and were able to see a slice of the Gulf through the palm trees.
I had to do laundry halfway through the week and it was a bit of a schlepp to the laundry facilities. The only other minus was that our bed was not very comfortable.
All appliances were very clean and worked great and it was very quiet at night. Plenty of room for a family with a teenager and college student. Loved the easy beach access across the street. The beach was absolutely beautiful and there was never a shortage of chairs, umbrellas or towels. Another plus was the delicious coffee served at the cafe. I stopped making my own in the morning!
The Inn is very conveniently located on the island and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. What was especially helpful was that we were able to rent mid-week to mid-week; you are restricted at lots of other places, especially during a holiday week, to Saturday-to-Saturday rentals. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
“Beachy Wedding”
- April 18, 2012 - Chicago, Illinois
My husband and I just got back from a quick 3-day trip to Anna Maria Island for a wedding.
We flew into it Tampa, picked-up our rental (had to get a convertible), and made our first stop to St. Petes for lunch at Cha Cha Coconuts on the Pier. The menu was nothing to rave about, but the view off the pier was nice and Rum Runner house drink was tasty. Then, we were off to Anna Marie Island to check-in to the Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort. The drive was beautiful and the island quaint.
The Tortuga Inn has a B&B feel. The rooms are not huge, but spacious and clean. Plenty of pool/beach reading material is provided on bookshelf in the room for you borrow. The lobby shop provided you with plenty of wine, beer and water for you to buy at a very nominal price...$2 beer -- can't get any better than that! The pool is small, but the inn's private beach is just across the street with plenty of beach lounges and umbrellas to use. The sand on the island is beautiful....soft, white, powder that you just want to dig your toes into.
Great places to eat:
Gulf Shore Cafe for breakfast (ordered loosely scrambled eggs and actually got what we asked for!)
Beachhouse
Sandbar

We just returned from spending our 20th anniversary at the Tortuga Inn. We stayed in room #219, a Gulf Front Suite from April 11th -15th. When we 1st opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised! The room well surpassed our expectations in every way. The bathroom was AWESOME! The room was very clean and well equipped. The beach is located right across the street…what an unexpected surprised to learn that we did not have to pay extra for chairs and beach umbrellas….That was much appreciated! Thank you!! Restaurants and shopping were easy to get to with a short walk as was the free trolley. We dined at the Gulf Drive Cafe, The Beach House Restaurant, Uma Pizza, Island Time Bar and Grille, Rotten Ralph's, The Rod and Reel (Our favorite!) and Ginny and Jane’s for excellent coffee and breakfast sandwiches. We also drove down to Sarasota for some shopping at St. Armand’s Circle. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better vacation! We highly recommend it!
“Pleasant Experience at the Tortuga Inn”
- April 15, 2012 - Pittsburgh, PA
Stayed at the Tortuga for 9 days with four children and wife in their 2br/2Bath #244 in Palm Court South. Overall was a very clean accomodations and the convnience to the pool was excellencet. The beach as many has said is just across the street and even with 7,5,2 and infant boys was not that bad to walk to. As we were their for wedding and other parties were also at the facility we got to see many of the other rooms and all rooms lived up to expectations. Would highly reccomend for families and truly did seem like the nicest accomodations on the island. Views are great of sunsets and the staff was accomodating. Would not hesitate to reccomend to anyone that is traveling in that area.

Although this review is tardy, it is well worth the time to write. We booked a few nights at Tortuga during mid Februay (15th ++) and we enjoyed every moment. While the Southwest Gulf Coast has always been our favorite, we've never stayed on Anna Maria before.....and we can't wait to visit again. We adored our lodging and we were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of our unit (244) and the property. The staff was extremely pleasant and conscientious. Frankly, our booking was by phone and THAT experience was a positive and memorable one, too!
We appreciated the chairs waiting on the beach and the accessibility of new, clean beach umbrellas, and the staff member calling us prior to check in to let us know our room was ready any time we were.
The close proximity to local restaurants and the option of hoping on the trolley was also a plus.
I'm so looking forward to visiting again...and probably AGAIN!

We held our wedding g on Tortuga's private beach on Easter weekend. The Bayfront South will forever be a part of that memory. The birds and water, with the beauty of the room and the friendliness of the staff... Staying at Tortuga is a decision I will never regret.
“Very clean and everything we needed”
- March 23, 2012 - Midland, Michigan
My daughter and I stayed in the Palm Court South hotel room at Tortuga Inn on 3/4/12 - 3/10/12. We had a microwave, refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker with Folger coffee, so we could save money and make our breakfast and lunch in the room and just eat out for dinner. We don't like to eat out all the time, so we went to the local grocery store on the free trolley and bought our groceries. They provide dishes, silverware and dishsoap also. The pool was wonderful and peaceful and there were kids toys and water noodles to enjoy. The grounds were well kept and felt tropical. The beach across the street was gorgeous and provided chairs, towels and umbrellas at no cost. We thought our room was very clean and they cleaned our room daily. We rented a double scooter for the week at the hotel next to Tortuga Inn. We were able to lock our scooter up under their carports at night. We decided to get a scooter so we didn't waste time on waiting for the trolley. We wanted to enjoy every moment we had of our vacation. The only thing we didn't like was we had a hotel room that had a joining door going into the next room that locked, but it was very noisy and you could hear the other room talking and it was hard to sleep. Luckily my daughter and I brought ear plugs so we were able to sleep. And the only other thing is the bathroom didn't have a bathroom fan which made it steamy, but not a big deal. I would definetly stay here again but would request a room without a joining door to the room next door. On the morning we checked out we ate breakfast at the hotel's cafe and had crepes and crossants that were very good. The hotel office also has a store you can buy beer, wine, and travel necessities you may have forgotten (aspirin, toothpaste, etc.) The pictures you see on the website look just like the room you will stay in. We were very happy with our stay at the Tortuga Inn. The staff is friendly and helpful with questions you may have about the area and they provide you with a map and tell you where all the neat places the trolley goes to around the island. We also really liked the Icecream shop down the road called Big Olaf Creamery. We went there every other night for icecream.
“Nice place to take it easy and enjoy each other.”
- March 14, 2012 - morristown,tn
Very clean, comfortable and convenient. Large shower (no bath tub) with good water pressure. There is a bidet. Small kitchen (refrigerator, gas stove, sink and dishwasher) with cookware, utensils, cloth items, salt & pepper, dish detergent and Folgers coffee pods all provided. Free long-distance phone service and wi-fi. Nice bedding. Lots of books on the shelves (I left my paperback there when I finished it.) Ceiling fan is nice. Air conditioner a little loud but cools effectively. Lovely beach across a 2-lane road. Good restaurants a short walk away. March weather was perfect. Short sleeves with shorts by day and long sleeves with shorts at night. Great ocean breeze.
Room Tip: Ground floor studios at Palm Court have little patios. There is a virtual tour on the website.
“Good value with special rate”
- March 11, 2012 - New York
We just got back from a week long say at Tortuga Inn. It was so much better than I expected. First, the room was so clean that I didn't have to worry about a thing. Our room overlooked the pool and had an outdoor table and chairs perfect for watching the kids n the pool. We could also see the beach and the sunsets. The furniture was new and comfortable, bathrooms were large with ample towels. The kitchen was immaculate and well equipped. We also enjoyed a new cafe thats part of the hotel, they serve french food, coffee and crepes. It was nice to get coffee or breakfast. It was a very enjoyable very low key atmosphere. Incredibly relaxing.

This review is for the Palm Court South hotel room at the Tortuga, the least-expensive accommodation. Because we took advantage of a “4 nights for the price of 3” special, we felt it was an especially good value. The positives: Check in was fast and friendly. The room was consistently very clean, and we made use of the microwave and fridge to save $$ on breakfast and lunch. The inn supplied dishes and dishwashing supplies, which came in handy. The room was attractive, with built-ins, two rocking chairs and a small table, and there was plenty of storage. Large shower and plenty of towels. Small touches that would have been nice: a suitcase holder, some small throw rugs next to the bed (Cold tile in the morning--bring slippers!) Just a couple of negatives: There’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so one person can’t use the vanity mirror while the other is showering. Not sure why—they could easily vent it to the outside. We tried opening the little window, but it didn’t help. Biggest complaint: We were only separated from the adjoining room by a regular door. I could hear their cell phone ring, so you can imagine what the TV was like. Apparently this is because these can be rented as two-room suites, but if they’re going to rent them separately, they should install thicker doors.
The resort itself was very nicely landscaped and there was ample parking. Two pools were available to us, but the seating area around both is limited. I had the impression that the resort was beachfront, but you do have to cross a busy two-lane road. The beach is a very short walk, though, and it’s great to have the chairs and umbrellas out there already. The inn furnishes a beach towel per person per day (basically large thin bath towels, some need replacing). All in all, we would return—especially if we could get another 4-for-3 deal--but would book earlier and use the detailed floor plan on the website to reserve a better unit.
“Wonderful”
- March 9, 2012 - Pensacola, Florida
We went to Tortuga Inn in May 2011 for our 20th anniversary and it was wonderful. The room was spotless and felt like a little beach home rather than a sterile hotel feel. The staff was so friendly and helpful, they answered all our questions about the lovely island and made us feel very welcome. We rented the gulf view room over the office. Very spacious room, wonderful bathroom, and decor was so beachy and cute. Small kitchen was very nice. The whole property was well managed and pretty. The pool looked nice but with the beautiful beach right in front of the hotel, we stayed at the beach all the time. We are from northwest florida and spend a lot of time at the beaches, and we can say that there is something special about the beach at Anna Maria Island! Beautiful! Beach chairs, umbrellas, and even beach towels are all provided by the front office. Will definitely return to this gem on the island!
Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful. The gulf view is nice but from across the street and not right on the gulf...
“Beach Resort ideally located at wonderful beach”
- March 3, 2012 - Edinburgh, Scotland
We returned to Tortuga Inn for the third year running in February. Ideal weather and a wonderful beach were a large component of this vacation. We rented a ground level inland waterway apartment for four - two from Scotland with two friends from Toronto. We could complain about some deficiencies when we moved in but we prefer to recognise the instant attention by the management to everything we brought to their notice. This year's apartment had a smaller common dining/sitting area than our apartment last year and this was only slightly inconvenient when we had guests - infrequently in our two week stay. The apartment was in all other respects beautfully located and provided with all conveniences. It's availability for two weeks is a major plus factor for us because we were not looking for the longer stay which is more common. Anna Maria Island is not typical N America in that all the restaurants are not chains and demonstrate a delightful degree of individuality. Sea food is, of course, a major aspect of menus and we find this totally agreeable.
“Lovely spot in paradise”
- March 10, 2012 - Philly
Just recently returned from a short (2 night) stay at the Tortuga Inn on Anna Maria Island. Our accomodations were clean as a whistle and well appointed for a 1 room unit, on the second floor overlooking the gardens. With a queen sized bed, fridge, microwave, coffee pot. Perfect for us for a few days. The entire property is much larger than it gives the appearance, as it extends from the gulf side to the bay side. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. The grounds are well kept, with lush Florida plants and trees and the pool is just large enough. Across the street is the beach access. Plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas to go around. There is even a small "bistro" on property, with what looked like a fairly large selection of food and beverages, although a bit pricey, but in truth probably not out of line with the surrounding eateries.
It is a condo owner property, so we don't know how different the other units are but from peeping in windows, what we did see looked equally as nice.
The Tortuga would definately be a return destination.
“Lovely Holiday Getaway”
- Feb. 23, 2012 - Richmond, Virginia
I was supposed to stay with My Dad in Longboat Key, but he double-booked his spare bedroom and relegated me to the Tortuga Inn. Thank goodness! The place is just across the road from a white sand beach and beautiful gulf coast waters. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Housekeeping did leave a bucket and mop in the room, and after I put it outside the door noone ever came to get it, even though I called the front desk. They have a little canteen off from the front desk where you can get bottled waters, wine, soft drinks and beer. Not too pricey, but the Circle K down the street is more reasonable. They have a kidney shaped pool that is supposed to be heated, but it was a little chilly. I happened to arrive during a little cold snap MLK Weekend. I would definitely recommend this place, and plan on staying there again. They also have two bedroom suites with kitchens and what have you.
“Great for those traveling with children”
- Feb. 18, 2012 - Boston
Recently we checked into the Tortuga Beach Resort for a little R & R. At first I was shocked that the hotel was nothing more than a motel on a busy road. But, then, I saw the studio we rented and I was very impressed. They had done a very expensive make over and it was beautiful. This is definitly a place for the older set..( 70-80 years old) but we didn't feel out of place as there were other families there visiting thier grandparents and we always had someone to play with in the pool after a day at the beach. The little french restaurant they were opening downstairs was a great place for us to get a breakfast in the mornings before heading out for the day. The croissants start at $2.50 each and the breakfast crepes at $7.50. With coffee and bottled water..it usually ran both of us about $20.00 each morning. There is a Publix Supermarket on the island and most people just buy al their groceries there for the week.
There is a free trolly service which is wonderful and everyone uses it. It runs on island time...meaning that we would sometimes walk the mile to the restuarant before the trolly stopped. But, I think it starts up with more frequency as the season gets underway.
The motel is not on the beach, but across from the beach. They provide chairs and umbrellas. There was no gift store there when we were there in February, but, they were building one. So, make sure to bring all kids medicines etc with you.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and did the trick. I have recommended it to my mother and her friends.
Room Tip: The studios over the office are the best buy.
“Great Place!”
- Feb. 12, 2012 - Wauwatosa
This was our 5th trip to Anna Maria Island in the past 4 years. We've stayed at other places that were nice, but Tortuga is the best so far! We stayed in 164 in Tortuga Gardens. The unit was very large, immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, with a screened in lanai overlooking the bay. The huge shower and big whirlpool tub in the bathroom was a treat. The pools were warm and it goes without saying the beaches are fabulous. The only disappointment was the front desk staff. They weren't friendly. I had 3 brief encounters during our week stay and almost felt like I was intruding on their other work. That aside Tortuga is a beautiful property.
“A wonderful property with excellent rooms even at the basic level”
- Jan. 30, 2012 - Seattle
This hotel is right across the road from the beach and provides beach chairs for lounging away the day. Even the most basic rooms are large with fully equipped kitchen areas and walk in showers. The multi bedroom suites are largel very beautiful apartments and those on the inland waterway have complete privacy.
Bradenton Beach's quiet time bylaw ensures peaceful evenings and nights.

“Just as wonderful as I remembered!”
- Jan. 11, 2012 - Orlando
We stayed at The Tortuga Inn over New Years weekend. We had a gulfview studio and it was lovely. This was our second stay here and it was as wonderful as we remembered. From the time I made our reserverations and changes, thanks Tom, you were great, to when we checked out everything was perfect.
The Inn is just across the street from their private beach and wonderful view of the gulf and is with in walking distance of shops, restaruants and bars. Our room was cozy, clean and the tub was heavenly. What I loved is that they supplied their guests with toys for the pool for kids, umbrellas for the beach as well as chairs. So if you are flying in you don't have to go searching for these things.
Would highly recommend, the staff is very freindly and the property is so well maintained. We will be back.
“We always look forward to going back”
- Jan. 9, 2012 - London
We returned to Tortuga for the 4th time, had a lovely room facing the bay that we have had before. There is a kitchenette, large bathroom and a pool shared with another room. The views are amazing. The only suggestion we have is that larger bath towels would be appreciated. Beach umbrellas provided.Hope to go back for longer next time.
They helped with luggage and everyone was very pleasant.
Room Tip: Overlooking the bay is lovely

We rented the two level waterfront house by the dock. My family has traveled a lot and also have stayed on siesta key often. I think our stay at the tortuga was one of my favorites. The house was beautiful , very clean, very tastefully decorated. It was perfect! We had our own pool since we rented the whole house and it was cleaned daily. The grounds were so beautiful, lush an tropical. I am already planny my next visit!
“Gorgeous place”
- Nov. 22, 2011 - Middletown, Ohio
Our expectations of the room were exceeded by far. Our 2 bedroom 2 bath condo was huge. Both rooms were like master bedrooms with both having a master bath. The pools were clean, well maintained and the location was close to the beach and walking distance to anything we wanteded/needed to do. We would definitely stay here again.
“Paradise Awaits You”

Tortuga is a paradise. All rooms are spacious. Stayed in two bedroom condo. Very clean rooms which are cleaned dailey. Full kitchens and coffee supplied. Nice well kept grounds and pool area. The Gulf is only steps away. Beach chairs are on the beach ready for you. Towels & umbrellas are available at the office.
Staff is friendly and accommodating. Owner was on site during our stay.
We were attending a wedding and I recommended the Tortuga to eight (sixteen people) other famiy & friends, all were happy with the Tortoga.
Shops, places to eat and for beverages are all within walking distance.
Cannot wait to go back.

“Great hotel & great location!”
- Nov. 20, 2011 - Burlington, New Jersey
We stayed at the Tortuga Inn on Anna Maria island for 4 nights in November and just loved it. The location was great- on the beach and bay as well as within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The hotel was immaculate, the pool sparkling and warm and our room was beautiful. We would definitely visit again!
Room Tip: Rooms on both the beach or bay side are beautiful.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
- Nov. 13, 2011 - Chicago
When my previous arrangements for my visit to Anna Maria fell through, a local friend made arrangements for me at the Tortuga Inn. I had a two bedroom condo unit and when I arrived in the evening, I was a bit disappointed because the Inn appeared to be just a glorified motel. I was hoping to have something right on the beach. Once inside the unit, however, I was really pleased with the spaciousness and the cleanliness of the place. The kitchen area especially was well-equipped and they even had coffee supplied for the next day! The best part about the location is that it is just a walk across the road to a beautiful private beach with beach chairs waiting! There were also many good restaurants and shops (Bridge Street) only a short walk away and there was a free trolley stop right at the Inn if I needed to go into Anna Maria or Holmes Beach. Best of all, the service was incredible and it was quiet!! Even though there were families at the resort, there wasn't a lot of noise and quiet time was enforced from ten at night to seven in the morning. I definitely look forward to my next visit to Florida and the Tortuga Inn.
“Best place to stay!”
- Nov. 6, 2011 - Clearwater, Florida
We got married in Anna Maria Island October 29, 2011 and stayed at Tortuga Inn for 4 nights and it was amazing! The room was fantastic and we had such a great time. The staff was super friendly and the place was very clean. We will definitely be coming back!
“BEST PLACE TO STAY ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND”
- Nov. 5, 2011 - Lake Placid, Florida
The Tortuga Inn is the "Best place to stay on the island." The units are immaculate (I have stayed there several times) and the staff are especially accommodating. They have beach chairs waiting for you on the beach as well as umbrellas and towels. The units are beautiful, spacious, and extremely clean. You will really enjoy the pool and the beach directly across the street. Also, you can have a bay view in the back of the complex, which is also beautiful.
Room Tip: All you have to do is call and the staff will help you.The website is a must and shows you all the types of units. The units really look as good as on the website.I prefer the rear units (known as the Tortuga Gardens). They are very spacious and beautifully decorated.
“Great Place”
- November 2, 2011 - Buffalo, New York
Stayed for 4 days for a wedding. We had several of the rooms reserved for a number of guests. From the two bedroom suites to the rooms with king bed and little kitchenette. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen and kitchenettes had everything you would need. The showers were great and clean. The pool privacy was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was never a problem with plenty of room. The beach was across the street. Be careful crossing it can get busy. Close to several restaurants and stores. Really liked the quiet time at 10:00. The rooms were stocked with books for reading. Nice touch. Would stay again. We're remodeling while we stayed. They were putting a small cafe.
Room Tip: All rooms seemed very good
“A lovely place!”
- October 27, 2011 - Athens, Georgia
We stayed in a motel-type room at the Tortuga Inn about ten years ago and enjoyed our stay, so we booked a large two-bedroom apartment (Tortuga Gardens Deluxe #270) this past October when we came down to Anna Maria Island with friends. The apartment is incredible! Very nicely furnished and well kept. The bathrooms are wonderful, with a large tub in one and walk-in tile showers with two showerheads in both! Could have spent the vacation in there! It's a great location with easy walks to bay and beach. The staff is very helpful and friendly; even with two wedding parties going on over that weekend they addressed all our concerns with charm and grace. We'll stay there again for sure.
“AWESOME!”
- October 25, 2011 - Kansas City
We stayed in the Tortuga Gardens Deluxe 2-bedroom unit (#160) for a week in mid-August. It was INCREDIBLE! We had my husband & me, our daughter & her boyfriend and my 22-year -old son. Our bedrooms were outstanding! The showers to die for! My son slept on the pull-out sofa and he can sleep anywhere, so this worked fine for him. The place was VERY VERY clean and the staff cleaned it daily and provided fresh towels and more if we asked. Having a full kitchen was great and saved us money by eating breakfast and lunch in every day. I used the washer and dryer every day. The pool in the middle of this complex was nice to take a dip after coming back from the beach. We loved our screened in porch during the mornings and after dark. No expense has been spared in the furnishings and construction of this unit. The staff was very helpul over the phone when I was making my reservations. I had to change them 3 times due to adding family members and changing dates. Our first night we stayed in a unit with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. While it was nice, the unit we stayed in was TRULY INCREDIBLE! The beach is across the street and we spent every day but one there. We used the umbrellas that were available at the front building at no charge as well as the beach chairs when we got to the beach. We didn't use the front pool, but there were always people in it when we walked by. The whole complex is VERY CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL! We had a WONDERFUL WEEK and this is one of the Top 2 nicest places we have ever stayed. In fact, my son asked if we had to go home. :)

- October 18, 2011 - Green Bay, Wisconsin
We love Bradenton Beach, we had spent 2 weeks there at a vacation rental in 2009 and were heading to southern Florida and decided to take the time to spend some quality time on this beautiful beach. Called the Tortuga Resort while on the road and booked two glorious nights in one of their studio units. The property is right across the road from the beach, they provide chairs and umbrellas. The sunset on the beach is outstanding! We were planning to go to the Beach Club for dinner and opted to go to Publix's deli and enjoyed a bottle of wine on the beach instead. The resort is very relaxing and quiet! The staff was very nice! We arrived very late and our keys were in the box by the office, the layout is a little confusing at first especially in the dark! We would definitely go back. The Studio unit is perfect for 2 people, it has a complete kitchen and everything you would need to even stay for an extended time!
Room Tip: Gulf view or bay view rooms look outstanding! There were none available, the garden is nice too!

“Exactly as described! Paradise!”
- October 17, 2011 - Dayton, Ohio
My family and I just returned from Tortuga on Sat. October 15th. We stayed a week but I wish we could have stayed another week! It was exactly what we wanted. My husband, myself, 2 kids (ages 4 and 6) and my mother all stayed together in room 266/266B (Tortuga Gardens). It was perfect. The apartment was huge, clean, well maintained and offered a great view of the bay. The lock-out or "mother-in-law" suite offered more than enough privacy for my mom to escape when she needed some down time. She had her own entrance and a mini-kitchenette area but she really didn't use that. The kitchen and laundry area in the main apartment is soooo big and beautiful! We got a lot of use out of the lanai. We kept the sliding doors open at night to listen to the water and got a great breeze flowing through the entire apartment. The pools were great, the walk to the beach was easy. Plenty of umbrellas and beach chairs and toys for the kids at the pool. They are working on some renovations right now that are going to make Tortuga even more perfect. A small cafe/store/gift shop area by the front pool. That's exactly what they need. We didn't always want to run to the room or leave to run to a restaurant. A place to grab a quick bite/snack/drinks on site will be awesome. My only other suggestion? A little bit of music at the pools. Just something "light" and mixed genre of music for everyone. Several of us made that comment while hanging around the pool. Nothing too loud to disturb other guests and maybe cut it off around 8 p.m. or so. Other than that it was perfect. We loved the location in proximity to the trolley, restaurants, shopping, etc. Staff and owner were all extremely friendly. We WILL be returning!

Tortuga Inn is an amazing place to stay. The location is right across from the beach. Rooms and grounds make you feel like you are in a slice of paradise. They are very accommodating and provide all you need to enjoy the island and beaches. Super friendly. We plan on returning several times a year and will stay there each time. They are the best on the island.
“Tortuga is REALLY AMAZING””
- October 6, 2011 - Phoenix
Stayed at the Tortuga Inn for 8 nights in September 2011. Right from the beginning they where very helpful and knowledgeable in answering our questions and helping us choose the right accommodations.
Two small kids and two adults stayed in a ground floor 2 bedroom, 1 bath apt with a nice kitchen. It was a tad on the small side but spacious with the fenced in outdoor area. THE only minor issue I would say is that if cooking for multiple people we could have used a few more pots and pans. Otherwise the place was immaculately clean and had a nice beach vibe.
There are 2 pools, both very cool and have everything you could need. The main pool is heated perfectly and has plenty of chairs and tables around it. Very nice, social place to relax and/or meet others that are staying there.
Beach is right across from Hotel and the included chairs and umbrellas were a very nice touch, The sand is really soft and the waves are perfectly gentle for small children. We always felt very safe and were able to really enjoy the beach, The provided beach toys came in really handy as well.
Let me tell you the best part of this wonderful place. The people that work there. They make a point to try to get to know you and provide personal service. They are VERY attentive to small details and take a lot of pride in their place. EVERYTHING was cleaned daily and the management patrols the property and keeps the place in tiptop shape.
We left a bag behind and management was sooo wonderful. They went through our room, brought all of the items we left behind to a private shipping store and it was packed and ready to ship within a few hours. This was after many, many phone calls from us in a panic. They were EXTREMELY helpful, understanding and professional!!!
We enjoyed our vacation there sooo much and would not hesitate to recommend Tortuga Inn for anyone looking to have a relaxing vacation with a personalized touch!
We are serious, this was a WONDERFUL place to spend our vacation.

I've stayed at Tortuga Inn many times and am never disappointed. The rooms are always very clean and have a homey feel to them. I stayed this time in a studio in Palm Court. Love that area with the tropical plants and fountains. Within walking distance to some great restaurants. Beautiful beach with umbrellas and chairs provided. The pool I used had shade so you can lounge and read. Staff is always helpful and polite. They really make you feel like they're happy you're there. I see no reason to stay anywhere else because this has everything I could ask for. Beautiful, clean room, friendly staff, that's a winner to me!
Room Tip: Rooms in Palm Court have a privacy patio with table and chairs. I like that feature.
“Great Place To Stay”
- Sept. 26, 2011 - Tampa, Florida
Stayed there two weekend nights. Great place for a short "get away". Rooms were very clean, beach is right there and they provide beach umbrellas, towels and chairs. Didn't get nickeled and dimed the whole time. We had a unit with a full kitchen. Pot, Pans and enough dishes to serve six people. Clean, modern and had a "Key West" feel to it. Hard to find a place like this in Florida any more.
A great place to stay!
“Tropical bliss on our anniversary”
- Sept. 23, 2011 - North Georgia
Our first time on Anna Maria Island and all I can say is MORE PLEASE! Last minute reservations are the usual for us since our anniversary is during hurricane season. Booked a 2 BDRM 1 BATH room in Palm Court North the Monday before our Friday arrival. Our room was next to the pool & office. Plenty of room for us and our Jack Russell dogchild. Loved the tropical plants and water features in the court. Great private patio with table & chairs. The staff and grounds keepers work hard to keep up the excellent standards. Yes there are no flat screens but plenty of channels and TV is not a priority when visiting this oasis. The beach was well maintained with plenty of chairs and umbrellas.Had breakfast viewing the caribbean colored ocean & dolphins every morning at the Gulf Drive Cafe within walking distance. The trolley is great for exploring the island and it picks up in front of the resort. Every night the sunset was spectacular! We had planned to make our drive home in 2 days staying in Gainesville overnight. As we watched the sunset the last night, we both said "MORE PLEASE", The next morning we asked the staff to extend our reservation one more day. Unfortunately, another guest was coming in. They offered us another room at a discount so we enjoyed one more day in tropical bliss :)
Can't say enough about this wonderful resort and I had high expectations after reading all the great reviews, They got it right and then some. Thank you Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort for making our anniversary perfect!
Room Tip: Really didn't see a bad area in the resort. Palm Court has a tropical feel with private patios. The Tortuga Gardens have screened rooms overlooking a courtyard pool. Next time I would love to stay in the Bayfront Villas. Private pool or jacuzzi and an AWESOME view with screened rooms over the bay. I looked online to see when they were available, They seem to be pretty popular.
“A wonderful piece of Paradise in Tortuga Beach Resort”
- Sept. 23, 2011 - Riverview, Florida
We looked and looked for a place on the beach that could accommodate six people in one unit. We also wanted to be abel to cook and eat in and not have to go out all the time. We found the most wonderful place in Tortuga Inn. The place is gorgeous!!! The two bedroom unit is amazing. It is decorated like it was on a magazine cover. It has a huge kitchen with everything you could need. The beds were sooooo comfortable. Then go outside and find a beautiful private beach with FREE beach chairs and beach umbrellas. The beach is plenty large and the sand is so white and nice. The water is pristine. You really couldn't ask for more (and expecially for the very reasonable price). We were thoroughly impressed and we all enjoyed our experience at Tortuga Inn on Bradenton Beach.
Room Tip: We needed a larger so we were in the Garden section. We requested ocean view but found out the view is very minimal. Knowing that, we would have requested the bay view which is much nicer in that section.
“Shhhh...don't tell anyone about Anna Maria Island!”
- Sept. 23, 2011 - Atlanta, Georgia
Our new favorite destination! The Tortuga Inn added to the pleasure - it's a quaint, inviting, conveniently located property, has quite a few different room/condo type options, clean, well maintained and not over-priced. The units are nicely furnished (some in the Gardens building are quite exquisite) - nothing shabby about the Tortuga Inn! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Loved the private beach just steps across the street, complete with free (nice) loungers, umbrellas and beach towels.
With the free trolley, you can traverse the entire island for shopping and dining and there are good dining options within walking distance of the Tortuga.
We'll be back - if you like something a little different than chain hotels, high-rise condo buildings and mcmansions on the beach - visit Anna Maria and stay at the Tortuga - you won't be disappointed!
“New Home Away From Home”
- Sept. 22, 2011 - Orlando, Florida
Last week my wife and I stayed at this wonderful resort on Anna Maria Island. It was our first time and expectations were high considering the wonderful reviews we read before selecting Tortuga as our destination. WOOOOOOWWWWW our stay blew away our expectations. We have stayed at some really wonderful hotels throughout this country and have to say that Tortuga Inn is one that rates very high on our list of the best. The property reminds us of what Florida used to be...relaxing, comfortable and a place to call home. We live in Orlando and I am very sure we will be back time and time again.
Room Tip: The bayside units have beautiful views with plenty to look at. Couple that with a private pool or spa and you have a little piece of heaven
“Our very favorite vacation spot”
- Sept. 22, 2011 - Leesburg, Florida
We have stayed here at least five times, sometimes just as a couple, sometimes with family. Every time it has been wonderful- relaxed, well maintained and all around perfect. It's definitely worth visiting - you'll come back and you will love it!
Room Tip: Rooms on the bay are great.
“So enjoyable for our Family”
- Sept. 17, 2011 - Jacksonville, Oregon
For our son Josh's wedding, we stayed in a two bedroom suite with our son Jeremy, daughter-in-law Teresa and two grandsons age 5 & 9. We had plenty of room and other wedding party goers were able to join us in our suite for dinner one night. Lots of light, lots of seating and privacy for us and our son and his family. The property had a nice pool and we were right across the street from the beach. Josh and his bride stayed in a nice apartment that had a bay view and plenty of room for the two of them. We'll stay there again for sure.
Room Tip: Be sure to get a suite. You will be much happier.
“One of our favorites”
- Sept. 12, 2011 - Chicago
We have stayed at the Tortuga Inn for 3 years in a row every February and we really love it.
We stayed in a 2 BR unit and it is spacious and clean and just perfect. The beach is a stones throw away and you can walk to everything in Bradenton Beach. I can't say enough how great it is. Enjoy your stay.
“Great beach accomodations!”
- Sept. 12, 2011 - Dallas, Texas
We stayed at the Tortuga Inn for a friends wedding recently and had a great time! We shared a 2 bedroom/1 bath unit with some family. We all slept comfortably, the room(s) were very clean and comfortable. It was very nice to have a full kitchen and we were able to eat meals in the kitchen in between stints at the beach, which is just an easy walk right across the road. The people in the office were extremely friendly and helpful. The units could use some updating, such as new TVs, countertops, etc. But, for what we needed, which was an easy, clean place to stay while spending lots of time at the beach, it was perfect. The free Wi-Fi was appreciated. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance and the beach is gorgeous!
“The only reason I'll be back to Anna Maria”
- Sept. 11, 2011 - Miami, Florida
Just come back for a great weekend on AMI, I'm glad I choose to stay at Tortuga Inn, we stayed at one of the gulf front studio and it was exactly what we need, very clean, comfortable and spacious, beautiful huge bathroom. The staff was very helpful and nice always with a smile on their face. Yes, you have to cross the street but it's not a big problem and they have beach chairs free to use, also free umbrellas and beach towels. They are very close to restaurants and the island free trolley stops next to the hotel. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but still we enjoy one beautiful sunset. If we ever come back to Anna Maria we will stay at Tortuga's for sure. Thank's for an amazing weekend.
“Amazing amenities”
- August 29, 2011 - Orlando, Florida
We are a large family that love to spend time on the beach, as well as spend time in the boats fishing. Finding a place to accommodate both is often hard. Tortuga Inn was able to accommodate all our needs: Large family, pool/beach areas, boats slips with ocean/bay fishing. Unfortunately, this weekend the beach was rough (thanks Irene) and we couldn't spend much time on the beach with the little ones. Waves were 3-5'. So, we played in the pools and they were fun. We had a nice pool outside our room, more private for just our apartments(Gardens) but the front pool was amazing too. Staff was super nice and accommodating. It's nice to have umbrellas and towels all inclusive. That makes packing easier. The boat slips were nice. The rooms were more than expected. Marble countertops, dishwasher (soap provided), washer/dryer, 5* bathrooms and the beds were super comfie!!! Overall, we were all impressed with the facilities. We will be back!!!!
“Comfortable, clean, affordable and awesome”
- August 26, 2011 South Egremont, Massachusetts
If you're looking for a family resort with a relaxing atmosphere, this is it. We stayed in a "condo unit", which offered our family everything for the week. The property is set up perfectly and offers separate pool areas, five steps to their private beach, interior gardens and convenient parking. The staff was very affable and helpful. Although in a tourist area, there wasn't a feeling of "forced friendly", rather, the staff was pretty excited about everything and really made our stay easy and comfortable. Room Tip: The rooms are exactly as described and shown through the website. Palm Court North 2nd floor units are very private and quiet.
“Still The Best in Anna Maria Island”
- August 24, 2011 Palm City, Florida
We went to Tortuga Inn for the second time. However, this time we went to have fun with lots of friends who were staying at other hotels on the island. While some of their accommodations were nice, there were way too many people doing all sorts of things that would have made noise into the night and would have kept up awake when we preferred to sleep. Tortuga Inn's rooms are just as nice as the ones our friends stayed in, but all of their property permits lots of private enjoyment without being bothered by others if that's what one wishes.
“Plenty of space and a very nice beach”
- August 21, 2011
Tortuga Inn 2-bedroom had plenty of space. Service was prompt and friendly. Wife busted hair dryer and they brought one up quickly. 6-year-old and 3-year-old loved the pool. The beach was excellent. White sand, warm clear water, no wave. The beach is not quite Seven Mile on Grand Cayman, but it's not far off. Hotel provides loungers (comfortable ones) and umbrellas for the beach. Attractive, spacious, and comfortable accommodations, great location, and good value--it's a winner. You won't be disappointed.
“Relaxing Vacation”
- August 17, 2011 Lakeland, Florida
We stayed 4 days at the Toruga Inn and Beach Resort, it is close to restaurants and the beach, we had a beautiful 1 bedroom with living room and kitchen. It was a very relaxing place to stay. Our veranda was comfortable to read and have breakfast. The rooms are beautiful with a tropical feel. The front desk service was very good.
We would recommend this Inn if you want to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Room Tip: Poolside rooms are very close to the pool and a little noisier. We liked the room that overlooked the mangroves towards the bay.
“We loved it and we'll be back!”
- August 15, 2011 Tampa, Florida
This is a great place for families or adults who like kids. The rooms/suites are VERY clean and the staff VERY friendly. Wouldn't have changed a thing.
“We made another reservation while we were there ,we loved it so much”
- August 13, 2011 Winter Haven, Florida
We spent our 46th Anniversary here. It was a wonderful experience. It is quiet and had everything in our room that we expected and more. The room was impecabily clean. We made a reservation for the Labor Day Holiday for 5 more days and requested the same room. The reception people were very accomodating and honored our evey request. We highly recommend the Tortuga Inn.
“Great hotel on the Gulf”
- August 11, 2011 Woodstock, New York
I stayed in a one bedroom cottage. The living room had a queen sized sofa bed and there was a queen bed in the bedroom. There was a full sized kitchenette with plenty of dishes, utensils and cutlery. The pools were clean and the beach on the Gulf was beautiful. This hotel is wonderful for people of all ages. I highly recommend it!
“Great Hotel”
- August 6, 2011 Orlando, Florida
This is our third time at Tortuga Inn.
The location is perfect. Across from the beach, literately 1 min walk.
The furnishings are top notch, and the apartments are very spacious. They even include, washer/dryers and of course dishwasher.
The only draw back is the price. It is pricier than other locations on the same area, but you can avoid paying higher prices by visiting in low season.
“Family Trip with a special touch”
- August 6, 2011 Safety Harbor, Florida
This has become our favorite family summer vacation destination. We have stayed at the Tortuga Inn the last three summers and plan to return again next year (if not sooner). The staff is always attentive to every need and extremely accommodating. The rooms are always very clean and the property is meticulously maintained.
“great time”
- August 2, 2011 New York
Just got back from a three night stay at Tortuga. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The grounds were well maintained, and the cleaning crew did a fantastic job. It's very quiet on the island, and at Tortuga. If you are looking for a relaxing time, with the beach righy across the street, than this is your place.
“Excellent location”
- August 2, 2011 Colorado Springs, Colorado
Great two bedroom ground floor living area. Well maintained and clean. Resort is located on the Bay side and we had a great patio area in the back. A little pricey but the resort has beach towels we could exchange at any time, just a short walk across the road to wonderful beach with chairs and umbrella for our use. Two pools that could be used depending on your desires, one family friendly the other more of a lap pool. Our unit had use of a hot tub but way to warm to use in the summer and it closed at 10:00. We would stay again if we have a chance.Although we ate out most of the time the kitchen had plenty of dishes not many covered containers which caused us to scramble for some left overs items. Might not be a problem for those driving from home but for us having to buy everything (baggies, paper products, etc.) it can get pricey.
Room Tip: Nice bedrooms, but the second bedroom had the washer and dryer in one of the closets so closet space might be an issue.
“Fantastic”
- August 2, 2011
Stayed 2 nights at Tortuga and had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived...the greeting at check in with very friendly staff. This is a top notch resort. Professional, couteous, and accomodating staff. This is where you need to stay.
“Won me over...”
- July 31 2011 Miami, Florida
I too decided on this location & hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews. I have to admit I was not too happy on our first day. Our vacations are usually the "cram as much as we possibly can into 7 days" type of vacation. So on our first day when I found myself with nothing to hurry too, I was at a lost. However, by our 2nd day, the hotel & beach had won me over. The beach is so beautiful and relaxing. With the powdery white sand as so many have mentioned. We just loved hanging out on it every day. Our group consisted of 5 kids and each of them raved about this vacation. There are jetskies/paddle board/kayaks available for rent 2 steps from the private beach. The street is an issue for little ones. It's not the type of hotel were the kids can go to the beach while you watch them from the pool or balcony, but we found most days all of us were at the beach anyway. Honestly having to go back to the room was not such a big deal. I've stayed at hotels directly on the beach, where the walk back to the room was much longer then it was at the Tortuga. The hotel has no restaurant/breakfast or bar. But there are numerous supermarkets nearby to stock up on. And there is a beach bar a 5? minute walk down the beach from the hotel.
The one complaint I would have is about the bed. It was a double and not very comfortable. It didn't make for having that 'ah' feeling once you hit the sack. The room itself was very clean and well appointed. We had a t.v. in the 'master' and in the living. The second room with the (2) twin bed did not have a t.v., however we had a second room in which all (3) rooms had t.v.'s. I mention this in case this is important to you. The hotel is close enough to Tampa to make Busch Gardens & Adventure Island an easy day trip. I also recommend a Sunset cruise on the Manatee river. All in all I would recommend this hotel if you want a casual, laid back, relaxing get-away. By the way there is a AAA office about 10 minutes away were you can get discounts on all sorts of nearby attractions.
Room Tip: Palm courts nearer to beach. Bay villas farthest from beach, but great view of bay & most private.
“The best place to stay on Anna Maria”
- July 27, 2011 Florida
We visited Tortuga Inn based solely on tripadvisor reviews, and we were really happy we did. The room was awesome (we stayed in #220), with a kitchen, one of those jet-tubs, and plenty of room. The only drawback is that they need a king or queen bed in there, right now it's only a double. We spent some time at the pool, but mostly out on their private beach - there's free towels, free beach chairs, and free umbrellas. Plus, a jetski rental company is right there too which is a convenient plus. The staff was really friendly and we loved our time there. We will definitely go back again!
“Tortuga Inn continues to exceed our expectations and is our get away destination”
- July 27, 2011 Dade City, Florida
My family has been going to Tortuga Inn for four years. We first scouted it out for our out of town guests to stay during our daughter's beach wedding. We loved it and reserved a block of rooms for them. The family and out of town guests also loved it and have continued to return for the past four years. It is our special get away for relaxation. The place is a perfect, secure and a restful get away. They provide all the beach accessories so you can pack light. They even provide pool toys for the little ones and rafts for the older ones. The premises are spotless and the staff is superb. The Garden rooms are especially a delight...but all rooms are great...we have been in most of the options offered over the years. Beach lounges, beach umbrellas and beach towels are also provided. An added bonus to this little secret hide away is that your family pet is also very much welcomed to join you. One last thing, my daughter and her husband spent their wedding night in one of the Penthouses and it was perfect as well. My only hesitation to writing this review is that I may have a hard time in the future securing a reservation if you all decide to hit the beach at the same time (:
“Outstanding!!!!!”
- July 19, 2011 Long Island, New York
Phenomenal hotel. Gorgeous suite. Pools a little small, but still lovely. Would definitely go back.
“A couple's paradise.....the perfect place to celebrate our 20 yr. anniversary”
- July 18, 2011 Friendswood
There are already so many wonderful reviews of Tortuga Inn, I'm not sure I can add much more, but I will try. As everyone has posted, it really is a "slice of heaven". My husband and I were wanting to celebrate our 20 yr. anniversary on an island, but were thinking more of the Bahamas. However, we didn't want to be too far away from our kids in Texas in case of an emergency. So I started scouting around the internet and to our great fortune, discovered Tortuga Inn. All of the reviews are 100% honest and accurate when they describe how beautiful and tropical this inn is. Our room overlooked the bay with a huge lanaise. I felt as though we were in a honeymoon suite. The bathroom was huge with a massive walk in shower and a jacuzzi tub. We also had exclusive use of the hot tub which has the gorgeous view of the bay. The decor in our room was very nice and upscale. We always felt welcome, and the hosts were very accommodating. The grounds are very lush and tropical. My husband and I could not get over how this island is just as we had heard, "old Florida". No high rise condos, no teenagers, or party people. Just simple island life - which was exactly what we had been looking for. Now onto the beaches......wow. Crystal clear water, baby powder white sand, no crowds, just couples and families with well behaved children. We actually had a manatee swim right in front of us on a calm day! We saw so much wildlife every day - different types of cranes, pelicans, etc. Everyone we spoke with just raved about Tortuga - I think we were the only newbies, as it was a return trip for others. But newbies no more! We have decided we will be back next summer and will be bringing our children to enjoy this beautiful inn and island for what we hope will be an annual vacation tradition. It just doesn't get any better than Tortuga.
Room Tip: Bay view rooms are the best!
“WOW!”
- July 14, 2011 Nottingham, United Kingdom
this place is a little bit of heaven! Anna Maria Island and Tortuga Inn was suggested to us by friends who live in Florida and told us that it was the best place to go, not many people know about it apart from other americans = Not many tourist.
After spending a week in Orlando doing all the parks, Discover Cove ect.... we (my parents and me) drove a good 2 hours West. easy drive, all straight roads. no problems getting here. Tortuga Beach Resort has one main road on the island, which is like a small country lane, and you cross to step onto the lovely soft warm sand of the beach. Our apartment in the Tortuga Gardens section was so lovely, nice big kitchen with one seperate bedroom, pull out sofa, huge TV, washer and Dryer, huge bathroom, comfy chairs on the balcony looking over the Bay and the villas. one BIG plus was the Free WI-FI which is included, a rare thing at hotels back in Orlando ATM. the beach is "privet" but i find no beach is "privet" yet only locals are running up and down it during the day or a few other people staying in the resort. everything is very calm, no loud people, loud traffic. heaven. there are two pools, one is more privet than the other but both lovely to swim in. I can only stand the sand for so long (personally) before i retreat back to the room but the front pool was just as great to sunbathe by as the beach. we went first week of October, quiet season, and not many people we're staying there, apart from a very large wedding party who took up all of the villas. a number of restaurants on the island, the Sandbar and The Beachhouse (both run by same company/people) and both had great food, atmosphere, friendly staff and THE BEST VIEWS of the sunset. also a good take-out pizza place opposite the Beachhouse. the sunsets are the best you'll ever see. the colours of the pinks, orange, yellow are worth the money and coming back for- without a doubt. I can not wait to return in 2 years time with the rest of the family for my 21st birthday. i hope its just as good then. :)
p.s the island- Bradington- has a free shuttel running up and down it all day up to about midnight and stops right outside Tortuga. perfect excuse not to drive and have a few drinks at the Beachhouse. :)
i hope you enjoy this place as much as me and my parents did. you wont be disappointed.
Room Tip: Tortuga Gardens- facing the Bay.
“Exellent vacation spot!”
- July 11, 2011 Boca Raton, Florida
A beautiful resort that takes care of the little details like beach towels, umbrellas, and chairs already on the beach to use. The resort in extremely clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time there.
“A little slice of heaven on the Gulf coast!”
- July 10, 2011 daniel island, sc
Tortuga Inn is the perfect spot to escape with the feel of your own island! Our accomodations were pristine, the property was charming and the staff was graciously attentive! The beach is GORGEOUS and.... Oh...those sunsets!
We've already booked ourselves for next year!
Room Tip: We loved our rooms overlooking the bay with a
“Best place in the world!!!!”
- July 7, 2011 Cleveland, Ohio
We absolutely had the best time at Tortuga Inn. It is extremely convenient to everything and only a short walk across the street to the beach. Everything that you can think of is provided at Tortuga to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The staff is great and willing to help you with any question or problem that you might have. The grounds are beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We will be back soon!!!
Room Tip: The first floor away from the pool is the best location.
“5 Year Anniversary - Tortuga Inn”
- June 27, 2011 Orlando, Florida
My husband and I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. The room was beautiful, clean, lovely. The grounds were so beautiful I took pictures. (I never do that.) We enjoyed the pool area with our kids - they had so many pool toys and fun things for them.
My husband surprised me with a beachside masssage that he coordinated with Liz at the hotel. Heavenly. This is our new place to stay! We will definately be back!
“Beautiful rooms and grounds”
- June 26, 2011 Toledo, Ohio
The rooms are fresh and modern with a beach flare. Staff was extremely helpful finding places to eat and things to do, but they were never intrusive. The property is a quiet and peaceful retreat. It is also family friendly and safe. The beach is beautiful and the water looks like the Caribbean. My husband and I got married on Anna Maria Island. We chose to have a rehearsal dinner around the Bayfront Villa North pool the day before the wedding. The area was perfect for our 40 guests. We definitely plan to return to Tortuga Inn in the future!
Room Tip: Bayfront Villa North or South
“A small bit of paradise!!”
- June 9, 2011 Paramus, New Jersey
Stayed in Gulf View Studio 218 for 3 nights. The room is just as shown on the website's photo and virtual tours. The room is well sound-proofed, as we did not hear anything from the room next door, or from the front-office below. Having one of the few rooms with an ocean view, we felt blissful every morning, waking up and seeing the azure blue ocean and beach right in front of us. (Watching the sunset every evening was also a truly divine experience!)
As you've seen from the website, the decor in the room is modern, but with an old-world charm. The bathroom is HUGE, with a large shower area with two heads, two sinks, a large jacuzzi tub, and a separate room for the toilet and bidet. (Does anybody use a bidet???)
There is no restaurant on site, but that's why most of the rooms here have a kitchen or kitchenette. Just stock up on breakfast goodies at the Publix Supermarket about two miles north.
The resort is well manicured...not a piece of trash around. All of the staff members we spoke with were kind and attentive. We did not ask for any housekeeping during our stay, but the staff left a bag of extra towels, toiletries and coffee by our front door on our 2nd night. (thanks!!)
The beach is clean and quiet! There are plenty of beach chairs stacked at the private beach, and the front desk has enough umbrellas and beach towels available, so there's no need for a mad dash in the morning to secure a spot.
What I really liked about the resort, was that most of the guests were mature (old?) or easy-going families....no rowdy party people around! It lead to a really relaxing atmosphere where everyone seemed content.
My wife and I enjoyed taking long walks along the beach every morning and evening. The Tortuga Inn was a gateway to paradise for us! We hope to go again!
“Great place for families!”
- June 2, 2011 Lincoln, Nebraska
We just returned from our first trip to Anna Maria Island. I booked a 1 bdrm 1 bath Deluxe apt. in the Tortuga Gardens. I was pleased the minute we walked in. The place was VERY clean and had all the amenities you would want. We have kids aged 5 and 2 1/2. They slept comfortably on the fold out couch and we had the bedroom. The bathroom is big and the closets are very roomy.
The staff was so helpful with every single request. They recommended great places to eat and were genuinely please to help. The second day into the trip, I realized I brought the wrong charger for my camera and was ready to pay big bucks to have a new one FedEx'ed to me. I called down to the front desk to see if there was a camera shop in the neighborhood just in case. The lady told me to come to the office to look through their box of chargers. I went and found the exact charger I needed!
Our kids loved the pool and all the toys provided. We borrowed and returned umbrellas and toys every day to take to the beach. The beach is beautiful and well kept.
Overall, a great experience. We will definitely return.
Room Tip: Corner room in Tortuga Gardens!
“Love, love, love it; we will definitely return:)”
- May 31, 2011 Nekoosa, Wisconsin
Last year Mom, Sisters and I stayed for 4 days; we were so impressed we came back for our 7 day vacation this year. We brought an Aunt along; she was also impressed and wants to join us again next year (we may have to up to 10 days, 7 went by too fast). We loved the apt., the facilities, friendliness & helpfulness of staff, location, beach, price, etc. Absolutely, no complaints! Thank you, Tortuga Inn for a vacation we didn't want to end.
Room Tip: No bad rooms, check it out!

“Tortuga Inn By Chance and Won Big”
- May 23, 2011 Naples, FL
My wife and I, only by chance, happened to stay at the Tortuga Inn when it became apparent one evening that leaving Anna Maria Island would not be a advisable for a variety of reasons. Our stay turned out to be most enjoyable...really wonderful. The "Inn" is really a combination of several different kinds of properties at the same location. We stayed in a really great standard type hotel room in the Palm Court. But, so interested we were in returning that one of the staff spent some really quality time with us describing a variety of accomodations including several with two bedrooms. There is something for everyone. The quality of everything from staff to room detail is truly heads above most places. And, the location, Anna Maria Island, is like stepping back into a more leisurely and civilized time. We shall return...for sure.
Room Tip: You can't miss at the Tortuga Inn.
“Beautiful location for a second honeymoon”
- May 23, 2011 Wellington, FL
My wife and I stayed at Tortuga Inn based on a friend's recommendation to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Starting with the reservation experience, the staff was friendly and helpful, even providing the names of local restaurants where we could enjoy meals while in town. Between their advice and the excellent website, we chose a garden apartment facing the Bay. From the moment we arrived on the island, we knew that we had made a great choice. Check-in was a breeze, and our room exceeded our expectations. It was extremely clean, and very comfortably and tastefully furnished with tropical decor. The screened balcony of our second story unit overlooked the Bay and provided a wonderful view of the sunrise. The beach was directly across the street from the property, a 2 minute walk from our unit, and had chaise lounges and beach umbrellas available. We found the Tortuga Inn to be a great get-away for couples, but equally suitable for families. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
“Wonderful hotel that makes you feel like you are home”
- May 22, 2011 London, United Kingdom
I stayed with my sister here for 4 nights in May. The room was wonderfully big, very very clean and had all the little extras we were not expecting (fridge, microwave, toaster, utensils). There was even a book shelf full of books to keep us occupied.
The staff were fantastic and very very happy to help us with any questions.
The only thing I would recommend is if travelling with someone else get a room with a king bed. We had a queen as that is all that was left but it was a very very small queen bed and not much room for 2 people. That said the staff again were great and let us have another room which had a king bed for 2 nights out of the stay.
The location is fantastic - right on the beach with lots of great restaurants and bars. I recomment the Gulf Restaurant across the road for fantastic breakfast and Hank's for margaritta's! Loved Anna Maria island - i will certainly come back!
“A piece of paradise that never fails to make us smile.”
- May 15, 2011 Littlehampton, United Kingdom
My husband and I travelled to Tortuga Inn for the 4th or 5th time earlier in May. We were a little concerned with some negative comments made on this site but felt that our experience did not match the comments.
From the moment we arrived we knew nothing about the atmosphere and good service had changed and we were back in paradise. The staff were helpful and kind and made our stay a great one. The room we had was quiet and we did not hear our neighbours at all.
Now we just need to save up for the next trip!!
“Little slice of heaven”
- May 14, 2011 Nw Jersey
This was our second trip to Tortuga & once again we were impressed. Accomodations were spotless and beautiful, as were the pools. Beach umbrellas came in handy for spending hours on the beautiful beach. Front desk allowed for a late check out, which was a huge help due to our late afternoon flight.
Everything here is perfect...we hated to leave! We'll see you again next year!
“My very favorite beach place!”
- May 14, 2011 Tampa, Florida
As a Florida resident, I've stayed here several times and it has everything I want in a beach rental. Beautiful views of the bay, fishing/boat dock, excellent heated pools, gorgeous beaches and every amenity you could think of -- beach umbrellas, beach towels and beach chairs are provided and are plentiful. The entire staff is top notch, efficient and friendly. Nearby, there are many restaurants and plenty of activities to keep you busy, but I go there for total rexlaxation.
Room Tip: I always prefer one of the bay front villas.
“Paradise Found”
- May 9, 2011 West Palm Beach, Florida
This hotel is very comfortable, well maintained and clean. The beach is right across the street and there are good restaurants within walking distance. Our suite was so clean when we checked in that we declined the housekeeping service the next day and simply swapped our wet towels for fresh ones. The bedrooms were quiet, cool and dark - great for sleeping. The full kitchen was immaculate and very well appointed. Everything looks just like the pictures on the website. We will definitely stay here again.
Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are at tree top level - beautiful!
“Absolute Luxury!”
- May 6, 2011 Huntington, West Virginia
We stayed in one of the Studio/Gulf view suites at Tortuga Inn in April 2011 and were pleasantly surprised. Everything was absolutely perfect. The suite, the pool, the grounds...all looked exactly like the pictures online, which is very rare. The staff was so friendly and the beach access was just a short walk across the road. Plentiful chairs, umbrellas and towels!!! The housekeeping staff was awesome because we had our two small dogs and don't require anything except clean towels...We did not even have to ask...they dropped off clean towels and supplies for us daily!!! The huge sumptuous bathroom was to die for!!! The views were breathtaking...especially from the pier in back as well as the beautiful turquoise gulf. We saw many varieties of birds as well as the dophins frolicking in the gulf and in the bay. Needless to say, we really enjoyed our stay...perfect weather, convenient to everything we needed and so quiet and picturesque...we hated to leave and would definitely stay again!!!!
Room Tip: Studio apartment for Gulf views
“The best kept secret is located right here at Tortuga Inn!!”
- May 6, 2011 Atlanta, Georgia
We have been regular customers for several years now, and the service and accommodations have been consistent each and every time!!
Our life in the Atlanta Metro area is extremely hectic. It is so nice to pack up the family (twin teenage daughters) and within no time at all, we are in "paradise!" Paradise, and away from the rat race of our crazy schedules!
The pace on Anna Maria Island is just what we need when we are on vacation...calm and peaceful!!!
We are all "clean freaks" in our house, and Tortuga has set the bar consistently with their pristine accommodations.
The front desk staff is always ready to greet and serve you with a smile!
I would highly recommend seeing for yourself what a fabulous retreat it is to stay at the Tortuga Inn!!! I promise you will love it and will return regularly as we do!!
Room Tip: The Garden Apartments are our favorite!
“If your idea of a vacation is taking it slow and enjoying being “in the moment,” then the Tortuga Inn was built for you” - April 30, 2011 Newark, Delaware
When you’re lucky enough to find a vacation spot you really love, the icing on the cake is finding the perfect lodging that you can come back to time after time. The Tortuga Inn in Bradenton Beach, Florida, has just been added to my list. Tucked away on a narrow strip of property along Gulf Drive on Anna Maria Island, stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Sarasota Bay, the Inn is upscale but up to date, laid-back yet luxurious.
If your idea of a vacation is taking it slow and enjoying being “in the moment,” then the Tortuga Inn was built for you. “Tortuga” is the Spanish word for turtle, and you’ll find turtle imagery sprinkled throughout the well-manicured landscaping and décor.
The inn’s yellow stucco walls and red Spanish tile roof set the stage for elegance and comfort as you enter the grounds. The driveway and interior roads are all paved with stone a la EP Henry, and as you pull your car into the private parking garage, you already feel like you’re in the high-rent district in an exclusive hideaway.
The inn offers a range of accommodations among six different buildings, from studios to hotel rooms to lavishly decorated 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. Having been spoiled in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment in Tortuga Gardens, it would be hard to come back and stay in something less sumptuous, but all the rooms look equally comfortable. The apartment sported granite countertops, double showers, Jacuzzi tub, screened porch, a laundry room, three TVs, and delightfully tropical furnishings throughout.
Much like that of neighboring communities on Anna Maria Island—Holmes Beach and Anna Maria City—the Bradenton Beach lifestyle is centered around the water. With four miles of beachfront within the city limits that cover a tiny five square miles, nearly everything is either waterfront or water view. Boats line the docks on Sarasota Bay; parasails and jet skis are lined up for rent on the Gulf side. Several restaurants sit right on the beach, most notably the Beach House, famous for its delectable grouper sandwich.
What to do? There’s really no end to the activities available. Take an early-morning walk on the private white-sand beach to watch the sandpipers and plovers chasing the gentle surf. Relax on a lounger and gaze at the turquoise waters of the Gulf. Go for a swim in one of the pools. Or get out your fishing gear and sit on the dock of the bay, just wastin’ time. Whatever you spend your time doing, don’t miss the spectacular sunsets. The greatest show on earth is best viewed from a reclining position in a lounger, (plastic) wine glass in hand.
Room Tip: Take a look at the Tortuga Inn website.
“Clean, Clean, Clean!!!!!”
- April 29, 2011 Orlando, Florida
This hotel is amazing!!!! Very clean and it has all the amenities one would want. Great place to stay!!! We'll be back!!!
“Fantabulous”
- April 24, 2011 The Villages, Florida
We have stayed at this resort numerous times. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in assisting you in finding your way around the island. They have their own private beach directly across the street and they supply chairs, umbrellas and towels. The beach is absolutely beautiful. It is a nice relaxing area, but don't let that make you think it's dull....far from it. The island offers a lot and Tortuga Inn makes your relaxing time worthwhile. The rooms are clean and have the amenities that you would require, be it a hotel room w/microwave and fridge or a studio with full kitchen and even larger units to accomodate families and friends. The pool is a great place to sit and relax after touring, swimming in the Gulf or whatever else you could do. Restaurants nearby are quite good, with outside bars (our favorite) on beautiful beaches.
“We loved this hotel, location and cannot wait to go back!! Hated to leave!”
- April 17, 2011 Peoria, Illinois
We had a beautiful room, more like a condo with all the comforts of home including granite countertops, full kitchen and full size washer/dryer. The location is perfect situated between the bay and the gulf. Views could not have been better and the grounds are beautiful... the beach area is so gorgeous and the chairs/umbrellas and some toys for the kids are all provided. They even let us have a late check-out since our flight was late in the evening. My only complaint would be that there should be a crosswalk out in front to get to the beach because traffic does not stop for you there and with little kids it is a little scary. But everything else was so wonderful that I hated to leave and cannot wait to go back!
“Tortuga was great!” - April 12, 2011 Loveland, Colorado
Tortuga was in a fantastic spot. The unit was clean and spacious. Great balcony. On the FREE Trolley line. Across the street from a great beach.
“Well Worth It!” - April 8, 2011 Suwanee, Georgia
We fully enjoyed our time at Tortuga! From the friendly service and cleanliness of the grounds, pool, and rooms, to the complimentary beach chairs, and towels. Great location too! Right along the trolley stop, and close to bike, jet ski, and paddle board rentals!
“Wonderful!” - April 8, 2011 Cleveland, Ohio
Thoroughly enjoyed our few days in Anna Maria Island at the Tortuga Inn. Our suite was clean with contemporary furnishings and very spacious; staff was very friendly and welcoming; in a great location for walking to restaurants/shops; excellent beach amenities--loved that there were chairs and umbrellas avaialble at no charge; parking was easy. Travelled with husband and two children (12 and 14yr old). I would absolutely return to the Tortuga Inn!!
“A treasure on the beach!” - March. 30, 2011 Jackson, Wyoming
Tortuga Inn has high standards and that is one reason we keep returning year after year. We know we will be greeted by a warm and friendly staff, our room will be ready, clean and tastefully decorated. The atmosphere says Florida and beach is always a welcome site. The grounds are well maintained, clean and safe. It is becoming a home away from home and something we look forward to each trip.
“Wonderful and relaxing” - March. 24, 2011 Camas, Washington
Get in early so you can get your groceries or find a fast food chain before going onto the island if after 9p.m. Follow what the locals do, be courteous. This is a very laid back island. I loved it.
“Absolutely Wonderful Place to Stay!” - March. 16, 2011 Jackson, Michigan
What a beautiful place to stay! The location is wonderful, the staff are wonderful and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Everything you need is in walking distance or a short drive! A person feels like they are at a quiet, peaceful resort here - yes, this is the place to relax!
“Just what we needed” - March. 11, 2011 Waleska, Georgia
While in Central Florida for business my husband and I found that we had extra time for a vacation before another business meeting in Tampa. We decided to visit the West Coast. Not having any reservations or destination my husband called a friend in Sarasota to recommend a hotel for us to stay. His friend gave us a few to check out on the web and the Tortuga Inn seemed like what we were looking for. All I can say is this hotel was just what we needed and more. Often when you see something on the web it's not what it appears to be. This went beyond what we saw. The room was beautiful and spacious. It even had a washer and dryer. The staff was so friendly and accommadating and the setting was perfect, the gulf on one side and the bay on the other. We would highly recommend the Tortuga Inn and when on the West Coast of Florda again we would definately stay there.
“Lovely stay” - Feb. 23, 2011 Washington
We had a wonderful stay at the Tortuga Inn. Quaint, clean, across from the lovely white sands beach. We saw dolphins one morning on a beach walk. Very relaxing stay - not many younger people mostly retirees on the island this time of year. Only things we could suggest to work on was the pool was a little cool for winter so not many got in and the bedsprings in our bedroom were a little squeaky.
“Charming, comfortable, happy, very well-designed and maintained.
” - Feb. 21, 2011 New York
We had a wonderful three-generation visit at the Tortuga Inn. Our nine-year-old exclaimed each morning that it was her best vacation ever. Lovely 2-bedroom, 2-bath, partial view of the bay. Kitchen and facilities were terrific. Comfortable Florida room/screened porch. Nice pools.
“The perfect beach get away.” - Feb. 7, 2011 Illinois
The entire resort was a joy to visit. The entire staff was friendly and seemed so happy to welcome us. We stayed in the hotel type room and it was beautifully appointed, even down to the paperback books. We loved the walk-in shower. There is a beautiful private beach area with chairs across the street.
“This Resort was a Dream Resort” - Feb. 6, 2011 Peoria, Illinois
This resort was one of the nicest if not the nicest I have ever stayed in. It was beautiful and represented the "Old Flordia." The landscaping was breath taking. The resort and beach were quiet and private. The pool was small but big enough to swim short laps. it could have been warmer.
The room was extremely clean. I am a clean freak and this place was very clean. It had ceramic floors which were beautiful. The shower was excellent. It was clean, the water was hot and had a good flow. It was very very large, and very easy to get in and out of. The room was just the right size for us. The patio outside of the room was so comfortable and relaxing. We upgraded at no charge when we arrived. The only complaint I would have is the King Size bed really needs to be replaced. The house keeping services were excellent.
The office was open at reasonable times and were very helpful and friendly. They provided information about anything one could need. I needed an unexpected medical supply from Apria and the the office hooked me up with a driver who went and retrieved the item in town and brought it to the resort very quickly at a very reasonable rate.
The resort does not have a resteraunt on site. The office was helpful in directing us to the best resteraunts.
The sunsets were beautiful. We liked to go to the BeachHouse for these. Many islanders come to watch the sunset there. At sunset one of the staff rang a gong. The Beach House had great service and great Margaritas.
We will definitely go back to this resort. When we traveled to Sanibel Island for the remainder of our trip we were wishing we could take the Tortuga with us. They really spoiled us.
I would recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway for a family vacation. It really had everything.
“Great Stay. Exceeded our expectations.” - Feb. 4, 2011
This was our first stay at the Tortuga Inn. There were a lot of hotels to choose from online and I was glad that we ended up here. We stayed in a large room facing the gulf (located above the front office). The room was more than we had expected - a queen size bed, a pullout couch bed, a cute kitchenette, a VERY large (and nice) bathroom with a huge tub and separate huge shower (with dual shower heads). It was very clean.
You could tell they do a lot of upkeep on the entire property. The pool area is also very nice and well kept. A quick walk across the road and you're on the beach. They provide towels, beach umbrellas and chairs.
The people who traveled with us stayed at the they Holiday Inn in Bradenton. They had got a suite there. After seeing our room, location and price (we got a special on the Tortuga Inns website) they said they will definitely be staying at the Tortuga Inn next time!
We have already decided that if we return to this area we would definitely stay here again. A bonus is all the nice beachy restaurants located so close to the hotel! Try Peaches for breakfast or Mr. Bones for dinner.
“Beautiful and clean” - Jan.22, 2011 Gaylord, Michigan
Stayed here for the first time and was very impressed. Not only with the impeccable cleanliness and condition of the room, but the customer service was tremendous. Our studio faced the gulf and the road but was very quiet. Loved the location of the room and also of the Inn. They have everything you need, including free wireless, long distance phone to all of the US, free on-site laundry including soap, coffee supplied everyday...everything. The price was right and for the money, this was especially worth it.
“Beyond wonderful!” - Jan.2, 2011 Bradenton, Florida
For my daughter and her new husband's pre-wedding party and honeymoon first night, there could be no more perfect site than the Tortuga Inn. Staff were helpful and friendly, the accommodations were first class, spectacular scenery, our own heated pool, perfect space for a pre-wedding party, wedding day prep, and a luxurious apartment to return to after the wedding reception - wow! The newly-weds raved about it. We will be back!
“I LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER STAY” - Dec. 5, 2010 Petaluma
Traveled from California for a family wedding in Bradenton Beach. The Tortuga Inn was recommended by my family as "the place to stay". We couldn't have been happier! After a Mapquest bungled drive from the Tampa Airport we were graciously welcomed. Plus, given correct directions for our return to Tampa by the nice staff at the front desk. Our rooms were divine, 2nd floor so airy and breezy, large and Tropical Island in flavor...which was perfect. The kitchen, living room and bedroom all very clean, the bed and bedding excellent quality, the double sink bath and adjoining walk-in closet large and accommodating. The overall atmosphere couldn't have been a better compliment to a wedding on the beach. Which the area is known for. When we return this is where we'll stay. We're even considering creating another holiday in Bradenton Beach area so we can stay longer at the Tortuga Inn.
“Stay at the Tortuga Inn!!” - November 26, 2010 Telluride, Colorado
We have stayed at the Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort twice now. Once for a family reunion and just recently for our wedding! The first time we stayed in the Palm Court area and just loved the old time Florida bungalow feel. For our wedding we stayed in the back bay area! The room had wonderful, a spacious layout and was very quiet! Both places are great!! The staff is very friendly, eager to help and always available. The apartments are very clean! We have every intention of staying again!! We love the Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort and all that work there! ....if you are thinking of getting married, stay here!!!!
“Fabulous!” - November 26, 2010 Telluride, Colorado

“Great place to spend time at the beach!” - November 21, 2010 Avon, Ohio
We spent 3 wonderful days at the Tortuga Inn. The staff made everything easy, from making the reservations before hand to helpful advice when we got there. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the room and grounds were in A-one condition. The location was ideal for beach access, just across the road, and it was a short 15 mile drive into Sarasota. The pool was warm and there were plenty of beach chairs at the pool and the beach.
It's quiet, Old Florida vibe was welcome after five hectic days at Disney.
We are looking forward to our next longer visit.
“You must stay at the Tortuga Inn, Bradenton Beach Florida” - November 11, 2010 Manteno, IL
The Apartments were beyond beautiful. The size and ammenities were 1st class.
Each Apartment was so well equip and spacious, you never felt like you needed to leave to have your meals.
The Cleanliness was unbelieveable, just spotless. Bedding and furnishings were very high quality.
If you are planning a destination Wedding, as we did, this is the perfect place to stay.
The whole resort was so comfortable and welcoming.
We will definitely stay at the Tortuga Inn again.
“Best time ever in Florida” - November 2, 2010 Brownsburg, Indiana
My wife and I first stayed at the Tortuga Inn last January, having "discovered" it online. We were totally pleased with everything--the accomodations, the location, the Anna Maria ambience, and the service of the people at the Inn. We raved about it to our family and last month (October 2010) when their 2 little girls were on fall school break our son and his family decided to go there on our recommendation--and we decided to join them. They had the suite at the back with private pool and patio, and we were in a nearby suite in the quiet of Palm Court. All of us had a wonderful time, and promised ourselves that we would come back--again and again!
“What a wonderful enviroment, everything you could ask for!” - October 24, 2010 Tampa Florida
From the moment we visited Tortuga I wanted to vacation there. Once there entertaining a friend from up north I knew everything we needed would be available. We did not have to lug anything to the beach, it was already there towels and all. Each day we stopped by the office to say hello we were greated with a smile and ask if we needed anything. Perfect is the only word that comes to mind about this facilities. Our room was just perfect, we give it five stars.
“Fabulous” - October 22, 2010 Orlando Florida
I have to say I was a bit skeptical going in but the reviews were all so good. I ended up booking only a few days before our stay and since the villa was booked I ended up taking the regular hotel room style room in the Palm Court South building. I figured since this was the lowest end room I would not be terribly impressed but I was wrong! It was a perfect size for my husband and I, a short walk to the pool and had a little shared courtyard outside. The shower was great, good pressure and double shower head option and it was all open (no shower curtain). We had a small refrigerator and a microwave which was all we needed but if you want a full kitchen you can step up to the studio room. It was so homey and warm and nice touches to the room itself. The pool was great...heated and lit at night but not with those annoying bright lights but more turtle friendly yellow lighting. It was right across from the beach and what a beach! The white sand and the blue waters made me feel like I was in the Caribbean and you could snorkel really well. There were no waves and you could stand pretty far out. In fact we saw dolphins pass right by us!! Lots of sea life and crystal clear water to view it. They also have a great dock off the bay side behind the villas that you can walk out on. The free trolley stops just outside the hotel. Very convenient although it was a slight wait for it to show up. Tip: if you want to go north to Bean Point area there is no parking and so the trolley is a great option. We didn't do that and got stuck not being able to park. Lesson learned. I will also pass on a towel tip: you can exchange your beach\pool towels if they are wet or dirty in the lobby and I recommend the striped towels...they are nicer and the yellow striped ones were nice and big. They also provide beach umbrellas!
This place was so peaceful and quiet too. Close to restaurants and you can even walk to the BeachHouse restaurant which had amazing food and was right on the beach a bit south of the hotel. The beaches right there are just stunning and although my husband and I did explore the beaches of Longboat Key and Lido I have to say the best was right by the Tortuga Inn. My only complaint (more of an aggitation than a complaint) was that they had a guy gathering up the beach chairs at sunset and he made us get up so he could "lock up the chairs" for the night. The sun wasn't even fully down yet and there were like 10 chairs maybe on the beach...all occupied, so I suspect he had to disappoint several guests. We were enjoying just sitting and watching the sunset. But it didn't spoil my enjoyment...you can always sit in the sand.
Overall...you cannot go wrong with this resort. The only thing I wish it had was a jacuzzi. They do have a private one for the people who rent the villa but not one for the rest of the hotel so if you really insist on enjoying a jacuzzi definitely chose the villa!!
“Spotless, Wonderful Small Hotel” - October 21, 2010 Tampa Florida
I took my mother to the Tortuga Inn to celebrate her 75th birthday. It is hard to say enough about the Tortuga Inn. It definitely deserves its top rating on Anna Maria Island. The rooms are spacious, impecably clean and the furnishings and finishes are high quality. The tropical grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. The staff is upbeat and friendly.
Our room, the Bayside Vills North, second floor has an incredible 180-degree view of Sarasota Bay and shares a private pool with the villa below. It has without question the best view at the hotel. The huge balcony was an incredible place for breakfast and evening cocktails. The semi-private pool was so peaceful and beautiful that it was hard to tear ourselves away from the pool to go to the beach!
While there is no restaurant on the property almost all units have kitchens. This is the case all over Anna Maria. So if you need a full service resort this hotel and Anna Maria are probably not for you. There are several restaurants within walking distance and many more a short drive away. A Publix is five minutes away for you to stock your refrigerator.
Beach chairs , towels and umbrellas are provided free of charge to all hotel guests. The hotel is very pet friendly and charges only a nominal fee.
I cannot recommend the Tortuga enough. A charming inn on a charming island.
“THE TORTUGA INN & RESORT IS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY ON ANNA MARIA ISLAND!” - October 14, 2010 Merritt Island, Florida
The staff is great,(especially Tim & Katie) friendly & courteous. The accomodations are immaculate (definitly a prequisite for me) and has all the comforts of home. Their beach is beautiful, uncrowded & peaceful.
“Lovely getaway” - October 1, 2010 Sarasota Florida
We live in Sarasota but like to go out to the beach for a couple of days. This was our third visit to the Tortuga and it is as great as ever. We always get in one of the second floor suites facing the Gulf. The suites are just perfect for the two of us. The decor is very comfortable and we like having the little kitchen and particularly love the jacuzzi tub. The inn has a great laid-back atmosphere and you just have to walk across the street to be right on the beautiful sugar white sand beach. I like that the Tortuga furnishes beach loungers and unbrellas. We spent one day on the beach and the other by the pool. A great mini vacation.
“A bit of heaven on AMI....” - September 15, 2010 NJ
Where do I start? I mean this place is so amazing, it’s hard to even come up with the right words to describe it…but if I had to chose one, it would be pure PARADISE!!!
My boyfriend, his parents, their little dog, and I were only really supposed to go down for a quick 2 day getaway, instead we ended up staying for 5! Now if that doesn’t tell you how great this place is, then well let me go on. I’m from NJ, and his parents live in Tampa, so we decided to head down a bit earlier than them and hang out at the beach before the 4 pm check-in time was. Well we got down there at around 1 or so, and went into the office to let them know we were in town and to see if they could contact us when the room was ready. Not a problem of course. They even told us to go ahead and grab some towels from them and start using the facilty right away! Awesome, we hung out around the pool for an hour and before we knew it, our room was done and we could go ahead and check in. We stayed in Unit # 154, which is a 2 bed – 2 bath, condo on the bay. BEAUTIFUL!!! (see my pics) we walked in and were completely taken aback by the beauty of the place, and not to mention for clean it was. Right off the bat, we were in love with the place. Even down to the crown molding on the ceiling gave it the upscale, classy look. Just gorgeous! Dolphins, pelicans, herons, and all sorts of beautiful wildlife love it there too. (could ya blame them)
I can’t say enough about the staff…from the maids, to the groundskeeper, to Tom in the front office, everyone was just a delightful! The Tortuga makes you feel at home, so much so it’s hard to leave! We can’t wait to go back, it’s definitely a treasure we found in paradise!
“Absolutely Exceptional Hotel, couldn't be better. 5 star Resort and staff.” - August 31, 2010 Olathe, Kansas
I went down to Anna Maria Island to get away. I am a business owner in Orlando, Fl, and have a pretty hectic life. I was driving around looking for somewhere classy and clean to stay, and stopped at a couple places that did not suit my fancy. I went a little further down and saw the Tortuga Inn. The landscaping is plush, the hotel is very cozy looking, and there were lots of classy people floating around. When I went to the front desk, I was greeted by a very friendly woman who further helped me check in. The hotel is AMAZING. Every room is so clean you could eat of the floor, they have wonderful interior design, and I was in love the minute I checked in. The owner-David is so kind and friendly, and gives the "warm&fuzzy" feeling that one looks for whilst spending money away from home. Another thing that really impressed me about their staff is that they did not judge me when I walked in the door. I have a lot of tattoos as I am also a tattoo artist, yet they did not judge me or treat me any different, as other people have. The last thing I will say, as I could go on forever about this wonderful hotel, is that when 11a.m hits in the morning, the housekeepers are not banging on your door trying to get you out of there. They give you "grace" time in case you slept in (which I did both times I was there because its so quiet)!
This is the best hotel I have ever been to, not only all that I have mentioned, but the location is idealic as well--right on the beach! (And they supply you with your own beach umbrella and towels). I am going back to my home away from home the weekend after labor day, and I highly recommend the Tortuga Inn to any person whether you are single, gay, with family, old, young, it doesn't matter....they will make you feel at home.
“Fabulous Time!” - August 26, 2010 Olathe, Kansas
This was our first time but it most certainly will not be our last! This place is everything we neat freaks want - extremely nice clean rooms with wonderful room to roam. Quite possibly one of the nicest roomiest condos we have ever stayed - and we travel extensively. Always prefer to stay in a condo versus hotel room and this was truly a magnificient place. We just couldn't get over how clean the entire area was - everything is kept super spotless and the grounds are meticulously kept - not a dead leaf in site and that can't be easy for a tropical place with such lush gardens! The entire staff was extremely helpful - they even had a "rainy day" activity list ready to go in case of rain. We have already recommended this place to friends and family. It was truly remarkable.
“Paradise” - August 25, 2010 Lakeland, Florida
The Tortuga Inn in Anna Maria, Florida was paradise! My husband and I have done 9 Carribean cruises in the past and the beach here was just as nice if not nicer than many islands we have been to in the past. Anna Maria Island, is a quiet and charming island that is great for couples who want to get away from busy city life. Everyone is in flip flops and on scooters, and it is a very chill environment. The hotel here was so clean, the staff was excellent and friendly, and the complimenatry beach chairs, umbrellas and towels were a big plus! I suggest visiting the Tortuga website to see how nice it really is....all the rooms are done in crown molding, nice furnishings, nice linens, and worth every penny. We have stayed at other hotels on the island and rented homes here before, but by far this was one of nicest places we have stayed. Location is also great.... the beach is right across the street, it was nice to leave our chairs and towels to cool off in the room and not have to pack up a car and all our beach gear to reprieve from the sun. We can't wait to return!

“Home away from Home (But a lot more relaxing)!” - August 16, 2010 Wesley Chapel
My boyfriend and I went to the Tortuga for our 5th year anniversary and felt it was very comfortable and romantic!! We made many memories in our short time at the Tortuga and would definitely consider going back again! We are even considering having our wedding there! Thank You for the hospitality!
“The place to stay.” - August 16, 2010 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
I found "The Tortuga Inn" on the web and could not have been more happy. Upon arrival you are greeted by friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. The room that we stayed in was very clean and decorated with the Florida theme. We had a beautiful patio and a gorgeous view of Sarasota Bay. Right across the street is the beaches and waters of the Gulf of Mexico. What more could you ask for. I would highly recommend staying at "The Tortuga Inn" and look forward to returning in the future. Well worth every penny.
“Cotton Candy Skies + AMI + Boutique Resort = Perfection” - August 11, 2010 Tampa, Florida
We have stayed at Tortuga Inn many, many times - usually for a quick getaway as we live relatively close. We usually stay in the same room - pet friendly for our little Cavalier to join us of course :) One of my favorite Florida beaches... We have been to many tropical places - and sunsets on AMI cannot be topped. It's a great place for a family or a couple looking to getaway... Lots of fantastic places to eat on the tiny island: Bridgetender, The Beach House (where we actually had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding in 2009), Rod & Reel, The SandBar (Owned by the same local business that owns The Beach House) Skinny's for a beer and hamburger... etc... You can't go wrong! And if you make it to Pancakes on the Beach - nothing more fun than breakfast on the beach!
The only downfalls: 1) you need to make sure to get in by 7pm because since it is a boutique resort - the staff leaves for the night... Very laid back atmosphere - very similar to the atmosphere on the Island. 2) Pool area can get crowded if the hotel is full - but make your way to the beach... Lots of chairs to use!I will keep coming back here for many many years to come...
“Always a great stay at the Tortuga Inn” - August 8, 2010 Tampa, Florida
Have stayed at the Tortuga many years while participating in a local parade. Many of our friends from other groups now stay there also. They have a large variety of rooms that meets everyones needs and pocket book. They are always accommodating. We love the private pool on the intercostal and the ability to hold casual gatherings there. Some of our friends bring their boats and utilize their boat slips. The beach is beautiful and they provide ample lounge chairs for everyone. We park our car and take the free trolley everywhere. We never leave without booking next year's room.
“Home Away from Home” - August 2, 2010 West Des Moines, Iowa
The Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort in Anna Maria Island is what made our last minute get-a-way to Florida an absolute treat. We flew from Iowa to Florida with absolutely no plans...rented a car from the airport and headed west towards the Gulf. Spent the day driving the Island...was heading inland to spend the night and while driving, simply looked "left" saw the Tortuga Inn and just had to stop. We were pleasantly welcomed by the staff....given a beautiful suite and once we got to unit, felt we were in paradise. Looking forward to sneaking away again in November while it's 15 below zero here in Iowa and this time we will stay at the Tortuga Inn exclusively and wander from there!
“Peaceful and beautiful.” - August 2, 2010 Lincoln, Nebraska
We stayed at the Tortuga Inn & Beach Resort for a friends wedding. It was a beautiful resort. Our room was very cute. Our friends suite was outstanding. We had such a wonderful time on the beach and at the local taverns and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach was gorgeous. I can't wait to return again someday.
“Fantastic place to stay!” - August 2, 2010 Fort Pierce, Florida
We were celebrating a friend's 50th birthday, so there was eight of us in two rooms. We were able to either walk across the street to the beach, where lounge chairs were waiting for us, or swim at the hotel in one of two beautiful pools. We stayed for seven days and they were glorious days. There were so many restaurants within walking distance which made eating out very convenient. Most lunches we would just walk from the beach to a beachfront restaurant and eat. We had a fantastic vacation at the Tortuga Inn!
“A Family Tradition Has Begun” - July 10, 2010 New Port Richey, Florida
Last summer for our summer family vacation we stayed at the Tortuga Inn and had a wonderful time. The accommodations were meticulously kept and the staff made us feel at home. This year we decided to return and were glad we did. The Tortuga Inn is a wonderful place and we plan to return again next year.
“Clean, nice and well managed property...Going back soon.” - July 9, 2010 Long Island New York
I am a frequent visitor to Annamaria Island. However this trip was my first time at Tortuga and I wasn't Disappointed. I Usually stay at Tradewinds Resort, located down the road a bit and the sister resort to the Tortuga. They are both managed by the same people and it is obvious in the immaculate state of cleanliness in which both resorts are kept.
I traveled with 2 other adults and stayed in a 2 bedroom unit in a Palm Court North unit. The unit was very clean and spacious. We stayed in an upstairs unit so we didn't have a private patio but we did not find the lack of the patio to be of much consequence as we wern't really looking to eat outside or bbq. The beds were nice and clean. The kitchen was nice and fully equipped with all we needed for the duration of our stay. The property itself is elegant and quiet. There is even a covered parking garage which is great because we did not have to leave our rental car to bake in the sun all day while we were at the private white sand beach located just across the road. The pool's were very nice as well. And the staff catered to all of our wants and needs without hesitation.
We even saw the head honcho David Teitelbaum live and in person, seeing personally to the operation of the place, which is nice because it puts a face on the business. Something not found at the big chain hotels. This personal attention to detail is much appreciated.
My only complaint would be that the "departure cleaning fee" has seemingly sky rocketted or even doubled within the last 2 years. While booking my next trip I was informed that it is now 125 dollars. The fee on its own wouldn't be so bad but combined with high taxes it really pushes the overall price abot 250-300 dollars more than the listed price on the website.
Overall the place is great and I reccomend it to anyone. I'm Going back soon! Oh! and get breakfast at Peaches. Its inexpensive and very good.
“Perfect!! Beautiful, clean, relaxing and fun!!!” - July 1, 2010 Milford,Pennsylvania
Just returned from the most relaxing and wonderful vacation EVER! Perfect is not enough praise for the Tortuga Inn, their staff, and the beautiful beach they are lucky to be situated near. Great food at quirky restaurants very nearby (Oma's for Italian, Mr. Bones for ribs, and the Beach House for romantic dinner almost right on the beach). Clean, quiet, and comfortable; I just don't have enough great things to say about the Tortuga Inn. Can't wait to go back!! Hopefully soon!
“Best Vacation Our Family Has Ever Had” - June 27, 2010 Chicagoland
We just returned home from our vacation at the Tortuga Inn on Anna Maria Island. We could not get over how charming the whole place was. The first thing that amazed us was how clean our apartment, a 2 bedroom in the Palm Court North section, was. I have never stayed anywhere that clean. It had everything we needed. The next morning we went to the beach after getting our complimentary beach towels and umbrella and picking out sand toys from the huge box next to the pool. The beach was an easy walk across the street and was as perfect as a Gulf of Mexico beach could be. Any time we had a question or needed something for our room (matches for the grill, batteries for a remote control) the people in the front office were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The pool area was great, with a good sized pool (we noticed a lot of hotels with teeny tiny pools) that was so nice my kids could never decide if they wanted to go there or go to the beach. So we went to both, every day. Anna Maria Island itself was wonderful, very low-key with a lot of character. We went to some great restaurants and enjoyed fishing off of the City Pier. We have pretty much decided that when it comes to Florida, the Tortuga Inn and Anna Maria Island are our choice!
“Best hotel and vacation spot in Florida!” - June 22, 2010 Wellington, Florida
From the moment you arrive, the people at the front desk are so delightful, informative, and courteous. Whether you need adivce about restuarants or activities, the staff was more than willing to offer fabulous reviews about the best local hot spots. The beach is completely private and directly across the street. The free use of towels, lounge chairs, and umbrellas is an added touch. The room was absolutely gorgeous! I would recommend this hotel to everyone! 5 STAR REVIEW!! -Jim Lief
“Location, Location, Location” - June 20, 2010 Orlando, Florida
We returned to the Tortuga Inn for the first time since our initial stay in July 2008. Although it was only for 2 nights, we Floridians continue to find the Tortuga Inn, it's amenities and access to the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches to be second to none in the Bradenton area. From reservation to check out, Tim and staff could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. Our studio unit was clean, comfortable and the entire complex was quiet at night. If it's a quiet un-interrupted honeymoon or corporate "chill out" time, the Tortuta Inn will satisfy. The pool area is fantastic for children to play and, of course, the beach, with it's sugar sand, is a 1 minute walk across the road.
